[ There's a bit of static as a PORTAL is turned on, clearing up at the seconds go by, image showing a shock of blond hair. Once it seems that things are figured out and the screen is clear, two nearly identical blond boys appear in a familiar eerie white chamber, possibly looking worse for wear but alive and that's what should matter most, right

[It's like seeing him for the first time, all over again. Except now he knows why his heart strings tug like they do, every time they talk.]
Yeah, we're okay.

Good.
What were you guys doing, anyway?

But I get it now, so... [A deep breath.] In- a few days.
I need to ask you something.

Are you sure you wanna ask me?

[He hates having to put this on Sora's shoulders.]
I think it has to be you.
Reply
Okay. I hope I don't let you down then...

[It's gotta be Sora's choice, after all. There's so much to explain, and if he comes to him without that-]
[It's just so...hard to imagine how he even could.]

He can't help but feel there's something... wrong, really wrong, about the way he looks right now. It's weird--it's... concerning. It feels like he knows Ven more than he does, like they've met and known each other more than just a few days, have met more than twice. But how? And why, even? Their bond feels so close and bound together and yet, right now, looking at the feed--
Ven feels really, really far away.
he flounders, he wonders...
what this question will entail. ]
Ven?

[Given him life, given him a home, kept him safe- he doesn't know, but Ventus does. And more than anything he just wants to give something back, anything that could be useful, that shows how honestly, wholly grateful he is. Ven's not even sure if he could find an act big enough.]
...Huh? Yeah, Sora?

oh, he desperately wants to help everyone that's hurting... ]
Can I help you somehow?

[Even now, he-]
You already have.
[Quiet and so, so sincere. He can't-- his eyes are blurring, and Ven doesn't know how to stem the tears. Because without Sora, he wouldn't be here. Without him, he wouldn't exist in the future at all. It's all thanks to his heart, and Ventus feels entirely too choked up, looking at the person Sora's become.]
Thank you.

[ but Sora doesn't get it. he looks down, and then back into the feed, expression confused and unsure. he already helped? when? a lump rises in his throat, one that tells him he should remember. maybe it's Ven's feelings, because he can see the other--
oh no, what did he say? ]
V-Ven? Hey...

[It isn't, that much is clear. A tear slides down Ventus' cheek, and then another, and he can't wipe them away fast enough. It's all new, it's all overwhelming, and no wonder Sora has the Keyblade. No wonder--]
[How much did Ventus affect his life? How much can't he bring himself to be guilty for, just because he's too busy being grateful he got to exist at all? That Roxas got to exist, too.]
It's-- it's fine, Sora.
It's fine.

[ oh no, is he crying too? no, no, he can't cry! he doesn't even know what he's crying for! these emotions, they're so powerful--so overwhelming, Sora doesn't know what to do with them. it's like they're growing in his chest, ever faster, ever powerful. he doesn't sniffle or choke up, but a few tears are slipping down his cheeks too, and he just shakes his head, trying to pull himself together. his eyes set in determination, and he leans forward. no more tears. he's not allowing it of himself. ]
If something was really wrong, you'd tell me, right? I know we aren't... really best friends, but I think you're a really special friend.

I know. You're...you're a really special friend to me too, Sora. [ You have...no idea how much you mean to me. ] And I promise, in a few days- I'll talk to you.
Because you're my friend.

O-okay! I guess I'll--wait 'til then.
