[ The PORTAL feed clicks on at an... odd angle, to say the least. It's obvious that the device is on the floor, and there's a young man, mid-twenties at the most, in the periphery of its shot. He's on his hands and knees, trying to feel out along the floor. Whatever pieces of his face are visible, a furrowed brow is most noticeable. ]

You're holding a PORTAL. You're not in your world, you're in a fucked up dream city called Promenade, and no, there is no apparent way to turn around and go back where you came from. And your friends probably aren't here.

... Enjoy that?

[ To be technical, he's not really holding anything. It's sitting on the desk still, staring its electronic eye at the ceiling. ... otherwise? ]

Was I supposed to?

[Holding, using, it's all the same to her anyway. IT IS ON.]

Yeah, apparently we are supposed to enjoy it!

Until water gets polluted, we get turned into animals, the city gets shoved ten years into the future, monsters attack and kill a large portion of the city, it turns into daytime for two weeks... You get the idea.

That sounds... [ Crazy, yet strangely plausible to someone who knows the gods' power still rests in the world. ] ... well, insane.

Insane, fucked up, horror movie gone wrong, improbable, should maybe be hit with a brick, generally annoying - the list goes on, really. You sort of get used to it after a while.

Sounds like a lovely little vacation spot we've got here.

When you take into consideration that you can dream up almost anything you want and every day resembles a stupid masquerade, then yeah. It's a wonderful vacation spot.

A masquerade? [ He'll... ask about the dreaming-things-up thing in a minute. ]

Yep. There should be a mask somewhere in your room. We're required to wear them during the day. You can take them off at night, however. ... They just take away our ability to speak instead. We get this weird thinkspeak ability to compensate for that, but it's still a pain in the ass.

... if by somewhere in my room, you mean my floor... [ Sigh. He may have knocked everything over when he woke up in the strange room with no idea wtf. ]

Wait-wait. They do what?

Hey, I'm not there, I can't tell you where it is. But it's somewhere around there.

You heard me right. We can't speak at night. As in, we are physically incapable of it, it's not fucking happening, don't even try.

I'm not asking you to, trust me. [ He shifts, moving completely out of the camera's range now, and begins feeling out around the floor for the mask he likely knocked over. ]

Sounds more like Abe's thing. Any was a guy can beg out of that?

If there was, do you think any of us would actually put up with it? Nah, there's no way out of it. Like I said, we get this weird thinkspeak ability instead, so it's not like we can't communicate at all.

Not sure that really makes up for it. Thinkspeak sounds... interesting, though.

It's... convenient, considering the circumstances, I guess. Still, you get used to it pretty quickly.
