♔ SECOND LAW || BACKDATED TO THE FIRST
[There’s a quietness you may notice, when the feed starts. An emptiness. Before the video sits both the King and Queen on their own respective thrones, faces grim and stern. Behind her mask, the Queen lays a hand on the King’s, looking over to him gently before they both nod and begin speaking- the Queen by voice, the King by Teneka.]
The threat is gone. The prisoner is returned to the Unnatural, and things have begun to mend once more.
By our words, we will prevent this from happening again. It is our goal and wish to keep the people of this city protected. In having this occur, we both have failed you.
[A pause.] Failure is not something that should be overlooked in leaders, even as royalties. We are not above the law. Therefore it is our responsibility to return what has been lost in this terrible time.
We will bring back those who were not spared, and return your homes and places of solace to be as they were before. You will not see any more monsters or abominations, should you walk outside.
Ah, and yes- [The Queen momentarily looks outwards, as if seeing something catch her eye. Then, she looks back to the camera.] The Nightwyrm that had taken residence on the beach is gone. We are thankful so many residents stepped forward to take it down, and your bravery has not gone unnoticed. You have gained both of our favors and approval.
And while there is approval, we also mourn for those who gave their lives for the greater good. They are not here, but they are still in our hearts and minds until they can be returned once more.
[The Queen slowly picks up a scroll of parchment that has been resting in her lap, unrolling it with tender care and sorrow in her eyes. The King sighs and closes his eyes in frustration. She reads the list. Among the members of the deceased are some familiar names:
Rebecca Crane
Krypta Notte
Ron McGovney
Date Masamune
As well as others. It seems that while most citizens were protected, not all were saved in time.
The King sighs, but then nods and continues.] For those who have just awoken, we welcome you to the city, your home. It gives us great pleasure to finally see that you’ve chosen reality. While we wish it would have been at a more comforting time, you are nonetheless welcomed with open arms.
Should any of you have questions, or wish to speak with either of us, we will answer. That is what we are here for- it is not our aim to terrify or leave our own people in the dark.
