[A feed snaps on to the face of a Pikachu. In the background is a half-panicked:]

No... no, no...

[The Pikachu blinks, calls "Pi-kaa?" and turns the camera to an old man aimlessly and roughly pacing in circles. He feels at his side for a moment, then shifts focus outward to every bit of his surroundings all at once, looking all around, up in the ( Read more... )

[He doesn't need to see the man clearly to know who it is. It's a voice he's heard essentially his entire life ( ... )

[The video feed cuts on. His hair's a bit too long and there's a tiny bit more color to his still sickly complexion, but it's the same angry looking King everyone loves and adores. And behind him? A large demon Doberman.]

.... So, it's you.

[Pretty civil all things considered.]

[The coup's not even crossing Walter's mind to excuse that... Little trace of hostility - hasn't for a while, what with that being done with only to be replaced with a significantly bigger mess to contend with.

Under the circumstances he, ah-hem, left the battle in, he's more disturbed by the fact that he's seeing Logan at all - probably totally conscious of the monster dog behind him, as far as he can tell here. Not across dimensions or what have you but communicating in some way this place allows. Either something more happened during the battle, or...?]

Logan? ...What - happened?

[From Logan's standpoint, the obvious lack of hostility is a bit, well, unexpected. It only furthers his feelings of suspicion towards a few things really, but at this point, it's probably more beneficial.]

You've been abducted as the rest of us have. Brought to this world for no apparent purpose other than training these [He motions towards the dog behind him.] creatures.

[That hint of hostility--or agitation, however you want to put it--is still present in his voice, of course. 'Fraternizing with traitors' is fairly close to 'being a tyrant' and 'putting up with Reaver' on his figurative list of things he doesn't like.]

[Interesting reaction to arriving in Johto, and it's attracted Envy's attention. He looks almost amused.]

Whatever you're yelling at, you'll probably have to wait a while for it to come out and fight you.

[Don't'cha think for a second he doesn't catch that.]

There's a woman young enough to be my daughter, at least, back in that house calling herself mother and I've got the brightest yellow - rabbity... thing I've ever seen making a point of staying on my tail. What a waste of a perfectly baffling setup it would be if it just popped up now.

Who're you?

Ah, yes, the woman who thinks she's everyone's mother. Really adds to the charm of the place, don't you think?

I'm just someone who's been stuck in this world for a long while. If you want my name, I'll give it to you if you give me yours first.

[Short sigh.] Sir Walter Beck, of Albion. I was hoping for a bit more than your name.

[ Hey, someone who speaks Nero's language--the language of fists in faces. ]

You're talking to a wall, gramps. Been there, done that; whatever brought us here isn't looking to deal with the mess.

[ At least Walter has less property damage to show for his efforts...? ]

[If we're only counting firsthand. But anyhoo.]

I fail to find much reassurance in the vagueness, there. But believe me, I'm beginning to get that by now.

[... W-wow, old guy, you look upset.]

[Heather's got a soft spot for grizzly old dudes though, and the fact that he mentions he's dead piques her interest a little bit, since all things considered, he's handling it pretty well.]

... New, huh?

[Oh, he left off at a relatively good spot.

And as for this girl, her tone is quite a refreshing switch from the last three responses he's gotten. By the time he responds, that combined with what information he has gotten has cooled him down a bit.]

So it would seem.

Here to train - [Having difficulty finding a juicy word - settles for doing as Logan did and getting the Pikachu back within the camera and motioning over.] - these things, are we?

[Always nice when that happens! Unfortunately, very few people involved in Heather's life ever seem to leave in good spots... One could say it's a somewhat foreign concept to her.]

Basically.

It's not as bad as it seems, really.

And I say that as someone who was at least as angry as you were when I first got here.

[She's not really trying to make fun, just lighten the situation up a little bit. Humor is something Heather uses like a tool, and with the WAY she uses it, it's a bit like a Swiss Army Knife. Handy in all kinds of situations.]

[They oughta get along just fine.

And the attempt at lightening the mood is especially welcome after... any talk with Logan, but this one's shaping up to be especially sobering.

Short snort of a laugh.] Really. I cannot fathom what kind of business this mess caught you in the middle of.

[Thouuugh come to think of it, the Crawler, Silent Hill... it's not so dissimilar.]
