What form will your character's NV take?
A
baby Den Den Mushi, a snail-creature that fits into one’s palm and transmits sound waves. There will be a screen on one side of its shell with the added convenience of a keypad that flips out for dialing and texting. Luffy’s will also handily have a carabiner with a pull-and-release cord mechanism (similar to that of a retractable tape measure) attached to the top of its shell so that it may easily be clipped on to his person, ensuring that it won’t get lost.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
Even without powers of any sort, Luffy is strong. Really damn strong. His grandfather made sure of that, and before he’d even reached double digits in age he’d gone through exercises of being tossed into forests teaming with wild beasts and been hurled into a bottomless ravine. Yet somehow he still made it out alive, each even improving his strength and survival ability. There’s no doubt that, even with his powers sealed, a regular punch from him would really, really, really hurt.
At the tender age of seven, Luffy ingested the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that turned his entire body into rubber. Not that he could swim before that, but eating the fruit made absolutely sure that he’d never be able to learn anyways; even becoming halfway submerged in a body of water will drain his energy, and once fully submerged he won’t even be able to move. However, in return, his body can stretch, just like rubber. Arms, legs, face, and anything else can extend out and snap back into place without causing him pain. The state of his body also allows him to take high-impact hits without a whole lot of actual injury; it’s not often that he gets punched in the face and will actually yell “OW!” afterwards. His defense is also greatly increased, as he can bounce back cannonballs and bullets at his attackers. Rubber, however, is not so durable against blades or weapons that are made for impaling.
The majority of Luffy’s attacks are based on stretching his limbs a good distance away from the intended target and then allowing them to snap back; by giving his hand/foot/head more time to speed towards his opponent, he increases the force behind them, thereby creating a greater impact when it finally hits. A list of attacks can be found
here. At one point he was told that the power of one’s fruit ability is as limitless as the user’s imagination.
This has proven very, very true for Luffy. He even went so far as to figure out a way to stretch his blood vessels, thus increasing his bloodflow and consequently his speed and power as well. This does, however, put tremendous strain on his body and rapidly eats away at the nutrients stored in his body, and once he runs out of nutrients, using this Gear Second mode starts eating away at his actual life force.
Yet another technique involves him inflating his bones to over 100 times their normal size, creating a giant bludgeoning tool of severe pain. Imagine an arm the size of one of the Tower Apartments coming rocketing down, and that’s pretty much the terror one faces when going up against Gear Third’s Gigant Pistol. It also comes with a side effect, though it’s less life threatening than Gear Second’s, yet more annoying: As the air ferociously recedes from his body, Luffy shrinks back down to a child-like size. The effect only lasts for as long as his body was in Gear Third, however.
Something else worth a mention is Luffy’s Haki ability. As of yet, he’s yet to actually master any specific form of it, though he has accidentally used it unconsciously on several accounts. He’s managed to predict an attack, and on another occasion was so overrun with emotion that his willpower literally knocked a nearby crowd of soldiers unconscious.
As a side note, he becomes stronger when wearing an afro at least in his own mind.
Weapons:
Fists and feet, oh yeah. Oh, and his stomach. He will clean out your fridge with no remorse.

Character Personality:
First and foremost: Retard.
Luffy is most certainly not what anyone in their right mind would consider even remotely intelligent. More often than not he’s unaware of the situation around him, and even if he is, he sometimes doesn’t quite understand it. He can’t even lie properly. It’s sadly not an exaggeration to say that he’s so slow that he has to be standing in snow for five minutes before he realizes it’s cold. Generally speaking, he tends to have a somewhat tunnel-vision when it comes to many things. For example, if there’s someone plotting to get an entire country to stage a revolt so that they may assume control? Luffy just has to beat that person up. If the Log Pose points straight up into the sky? Then they just need to get their ship up into the clouds. It’s a rare day indeed when Luffy actually does something logical.
Unfortunately, logical is too much to ask. For someone who is literally a human anchor, being logical would involve staying away from bodies of water so that they don’t drown. Not Luffy. He fearlessly prefers life on the seas to life on land (though part of that could be due to his sheer stupidity). He’s lucky he has a crew that actually cares enough to rescue his sorry ass when he falls in the ocean while goofing off on deck, trying to ride a jetski-type contraption, or even surfing (again, refer back to his stupidity). Half the time it’s likely that his fearlessness and slow mind work together so that his lack of comprehending the situation makes him far less worried than he ought to be. Whatever the case, there are hardly any cases where he is actually afraid of anything, even death. This means that he’ll stand next to a man four times his size that’s referred to as the strongest man in the world and tell them to stay out of his way. He’s stated that yes, he wants to reach his goal of becoming the new Pirate King, but if he dies along the way, that’s fine as well.
By nature, Luffy is inquisitive and excitable (and by excitable, I mean loud). He literally lives for adventure, considering it to be way more important than actually staying alive. Much like a troublesome little punk of a kid, if he’s told that something is off-limits or forbidden, well, that just makes him want to investigate it that much more. And once his mind is set on something, he becomes very pig-headed about it, stubbornly refusing any option that might skip out on even the slightest bit more of adventuring time. His inquisitive nature can end up biting him in the ass, though; it’s quite common for him to become curious about something, and unfortunately his mind can’t quite wrap itself around exactly how it works. Such objects are thusly dubbed “mysterious” with a nod of approval, signifying that he basically has no idea how something functions even after having it carefully explained.
“Childish” is certainly a good word to use to describe him as well. He’s very outwardly expressive, whether it be grinning like a lunatic, cracking up at some ridiculous joke, or waving his arms around like a moron. It’s also not uncommon for him to sulk if he doesn’t get his way or to shove his pinkie up one of his nostrils. Manners are practically unheard of where he’s concerned, and he literally has the attention span of a goldfish. Many things are amazingly interesting to Luffy; most notably, food. If someone were to mention the word “meat” they would instantly have his full attention. The teen also has a more-than-slight obsession with laser beams; even while being aggressively shot at, he was incredibly giddy because it was a beam, therefore classifying it as extremely awesome.
Thankfully, Luffy isn’t all dense and stupid. There are blessed times when he actually seems intelligent. Somehow he manages to occasionally pick up on the slightest details, such as someone shaking, and know that something is very wrong. These moments are outnumbered roughly 20-to-1 with moments like him asking things such as whether or not mermaids can poop. When the situation is serious, however, Luffy can come through in a pinch. A sure-fire way to pull him out of his carefree mode is to harm one of his friends. It doesn’t even matter how long he’s known them; if they’re amiable to him, they’re his friend, and if you hurt them, he’s going to hunt you down and kick your ass.
It’s a bit of a toss-up on how he’ll act in battle, though the kid claims that he’s always serious when fighting. He may emanate cold fury, or he may do something ridiculous like try to bite his opponent. Whatever the case, once he’s zeroed in on the fight, it’s one hell of a job to deter him from it. Luffy is strangely gifted in battle, both in terms of actual ability and the added power of creativity using his Devil Fruit. Hardly ever does he seem to be the same person who was earlier shoving a pair of chopsticks up his nose; instead he reacts with quick reflexes, trying tirelessly time and time again to find a weak point in his opponent. Also worthy of note is that Luffy seems to always know who it is he needs to fight. It’s been suggested that he has somewhat animal-like senses in those kinds of situations.
Overall, Luffy can be quite a handful. He’s slow-minded, loud, obnoxious, and will more than likely snitch food right off your plate. But when it comes down to it, he’s quite possibly one of the best captains a crew could have. He lives his life to the fullest, never believing in taking shortcuts through life. There’s a promise he has to keep, and he’s not going to live his life with any regrets.
Character Plans: From where he was pulled, getting stronger is high on Luffy’s list. He’ll be disgruntled at being separated from his mentor, but all of that will be made better by his crew being around. Sadly, Nami will likely force him into a job and thusly put off any training plans he’ll have (why so cruel, Nami?). But mostly? Luffy, being the insanely social little fart that he is, will constantly be bombarding half the posts on the network and making all sorts of new friends and enemies in the city.
