Weaken
Ryeowook made sure his steps were no more than a breeze. He trailed her all the way from her last class, not really sure how he was supposed to breach the subject to her.
At last, Jessica stopped at the rooftop garden on top of the hostel and settled on a little wooden bench that faced the cities of Seoul. He tip toed towards her and plopped himself down.
"Nice night scene eh?"
Jessica jumped a little.
"Yeah..." She recovered and murmured. Sweeping her fringe away from her face, she let out a long sigh which made his heart sink a little. The pale moonlight reflected on her skin, casting a pale outline of her beautiful features. Ryeowook took in all of it, she seeming so vulnerable, so helpless.
I can't bring myself to ask her. Somehow, I can feel that she needs someone. Can I be the one?
"Jessica...I need to ask you something...you alright now?" Ryeowook bit his lip as he waited for her response.
He had to be thick-skinned enough. He had all along thought that she had been living in a shadow. Whether it was her past or not, she had to come out of it. And he was determined to break that cold shell of hers.
"Yeah I'm fine. Ask away."
"Okay, d...do you know if Sungmin remembers Sooyoung and Kyuhyun?" He asked a little jittery.
Jessica paused for a little moment.
"Well I...I'm not sure. He only told me he don't know who they are. But I often see him getting frequent headaches in class. You have seen too right?"
Ryeowook nodded, gulping a little at how the usually quiet girl was able to give him a long answer. Pretty long for her.
"I'm...I'm kind of worried..." Jessica muttered and hung her head low, her voice trailing off to a barely audible whisper.
Ryeowook thought he felt his heart sink as if weights were tied to it. And he did not give a damn about anything but her at that moment.
"It's okay, I'm sure he would get better. Don't worry too much okay?" He tried his best to sound cheery, and longed to pull her into a hug, for he felt she needed one.
Jessica looked up and nodded emotionlessly, then stared at the sky again. He inched closer. There was the invisible force between, pullling him towards her.
Then he hugged her.
She flinched and struggled at first, but gradually gave in and rested her head on his shoulder. Ryeowook's heart fluttered at the touch, as his eyes locked onto her. She has weakened, her shell was partially broken. What made her do it? He had no clue, but probably she was tired of being an ice-princess. Hopefully that was the case.
"What happened...?" He asked cautiously, curiosity overwhelming him.
Jessica broke away. Well what should I say?
"When two people don't belong together, one just has to suffer."
