Chuck was not amused.

He'd woken up, and before he'd realized that anything was wrong, he'd remembered that it was Halloween, and excitement had shot through him before he'd even opened his eyes. That was strange enough as it was, but as soon as he'd actually gotten out of bed and realized that he was a good foot shorter than he ought to be,

Chuck sat on the swingset, pushing himself with his (tiny) feet in a slow arc. Ten years old hadn't been any fun the first time, and getting stuck that way again was just about the least appealing idea he could come up with. If this was what the island had in store for him? He'd be just about ready to swim home. After a moment of contemplation, though, he noticed someone familiar-looking approaching, and he hopped off his swing.

Beat ain't got much of a choice, really. Serena was doin' that sad look at him 'till he finally gave in an' looked for a costume with her, eventually settlin' on a pirate get-up, since the rest were kinda girly. Really did hate the clothes box sometimes.

"Yo," he said once Serena has stopped half-pullin' him over, lookin' the other boy over once he was standin' straight again. He ain't ever really spoken to Chuck before, but it ain't like it'd be right jus' standin' 'round lookin' awkward if she was plannin' on havin' him go along with her.

Oh god, Serena was tiny. It was strange, even stranger than seeing himself in the mirror had been; her face was familiar - it wasn't like he'd never seen it before, after all - but at 5 years old... he couldn't really believe that this wasn't some elaborate dream.

"I haven't seen her," he said, wincing inwardly at the sound of his own child's voice. "Do you think the same thing happened to her?" Realizing belatedly that Serena hadn't arrived alone, he nodded at the blonde kid who must be her boyfriend, shrunk down to kindergarten size. "Hey," he said, feeling awkward about the whole situation.
