As groggy as he tended to be in the mornings, it took Chuck a full minute after waking up to realize that anything was different. Really, it wasn't until he sat up and his hair tumbled - tumbled! - over his shoulders that he realized the magnitude of what had happened. "Holy shit," he said, and startled again at the sound of his voice, which was ( Read more... )

For Jenny, waking up to see a girl in Chuck's bed was, all things considered, not entirely surprising. That didn't mean it wasn't at all disturbing, though. She just counted herself lucky that she'd gone to sleep relatively early. She'd known she was taking a gamble in rooming with Chuck, but she wasn't at all interested in seeing what he might have been getting up to.

"Um, hi," she said, rubbing her eyes sleepily. This really was far too awkward. "I - I don't know where Chuck went, but you don't have to go on my account or whatever. I didn't - I didn't see anything. Just so you know."

Chuck paused, realizing all at once what this must look like, what a phenomenal opportunity it was, as well as the fact that he would likely never have it again. Oh, he could not let this one pass him by. "Well, aren't you sweet," he said, settling back against his pillows and pulling the sheet up over his chest. "So, are you Chuck's girlfriend? I figured he had one, but you must be remarkably openminded, letting him bring his... friends back to your room like this." He blinked, eyes wide and all guileless smile.

"Oh, god, no," Jenny said quickly, eyes wide, giving a slight shudder. That she could have been perceived that way wasn't anything she'd thought possible, and the thought was more startling than she cared to admit. "No, not even close. He's just been letting me stay here, is all." Pausing, she realized even that could have been misconstrued, and she wrinkled her nose a little. "And not - not like that. We're not, you know..." That, hopefully, would have been specific enough.

"Oh!" He let his eyes go wide with concern. It wouldn't last long, he knew, but he was going to squeeze everything he could get out of this while it did. "Well, I'm sure he would, honey," he said, all mock concern. "You probably just need to get his attention. If you come on over here, I can give you a hand with that..." He arched an eyebrow, the implication unmistakable.

It wasn't exactly a surprise to wake up to a girl in Chuck's bed, in all honesty. Eric sat up, one hand running through his hair to try to tame any bedhead as the other hand wrapped the sheet around his waist. "You must be a friend of Chuck's," he said to the unfamiliar girl, smiling in an attempt to put her at ease, not even hesitating over the term 'friend'.

"Not quite, E," Chuck said, sinking back into his pillows. If he'd had a little more time, he'd have come up with a way to draw it out, have some fun with it. But as it was, the best that he could come up with? Was the truth. "But look on the bright side: haven't you always wanted another sister?"

Eric frowned, confused. "I...what?" He peered at the girl, eyes widening suddenly. "No way. ...Chuck?"

"Unfortunately yes," he said, letting the younger boy scrutinize his face for vestiges of his former self. He'd probably be having this conversation a lot over the next few days; might as well get used to it now. "Not bad, I think. I mean, I wouldn't have guessed that I'd make an ugly girl, but it could definitely be worse."
