What is going on? Can someone explain it to me?
Where is our Gay Pride?!?!
What has happened?
Is this another sign of an apathetic age? I almost feel ashamed of my peers!

I agree. But the most important thing is that we are bringing ourselves into their living rooms. Will & Grace have done WONDERS for instance. The News brought Viet Nam into the living rooms so people couldn't ignore it. Gay Pride gives us solidarity, gives us brotherhood, makes us aware of how alone were AREN'T, and brings us into their living rooms so they can't ignore us.
We aren't just going to go away!

I fucking hate having to feel like I owe solidarity to the rest of the world's queers, because I resent them. I feel like I have to wear my gayness to be recognized by them, but that's not me. I'm not flaming, I'm reserved, and I shouldn't have to "act gay" to be accepted by other gay people. And I do, in order to seem like I have "gay pride" I have to go to gay pride events to reinforce some fake image of solidarity from heterosexuals when what we should be doing is having Human Pride Day.
I recognize the need for people who had to hide who they were and live a fake life in intolerant environments to speak up and celebrate who they really are, but I don't have that need, and I'd rather I wasn't criticized for choosing not to participate in an event that to me is fake and ultimately damaging through its reinforcment of stereotypes.
