Answering Rhetorical QuestionsastarcambiataMarch 30 2007, 20:58:33 UTC
Which is worse, killing many innocents to find a flaw within oneself, or torturing a few to find the same? Can sodom and Gemorrah be truly compared with Hiroshima and Nagasaki? IF so, what then is the price (moral/ethical/spiritual?) of one life? Does it change with time? These questions are each too subjective, just as your initial hypothetical device. But if you ask me, there is a significant difference between destroying two industrial cities and leaving a legacy of cancer, followed by economic (inter)dependence, and eliminating small non-industrialized cities in a work of fiction (it is afterall a parable).

I meant to think of a more suitable comparison but it was late and those two cities were the only ones that came to mind. Perhaps the bombing of Dresden would have been more appropriate.
As for the nature of the question, I reiterate, I was tired, and thoughts tend to flow like mercury when I am tired.
