"Reggie!!" Sam called out after the puppy that was currently running around her suite at the Montecito with one of her bras victoriously between his teeth. Apparently Sam had the ability to put Rusty in a good mood.

This wasn't a conclusion that he had been looking for while he was pretending to have a great interest in cattle farming as Mr. Shelby detailed the success of his latest venture, nor was it one that he was happy with when Richard pulled him aside to inform him that the "tiny brunette from the Montecito" was waiting for him in the lobby. As far as he was concerned, it was just one of those feelings that you got as the result of spending a few days on an island with someone attractive who didn't try to kill in an effort to aid her own survival.

He liked her. As a person. ...Okay, as a person and one hell of a woman, but having dealt with another hell of a woman who he was currently calling his ex-wife, Rusty was trying hard not to be pleased with this situation. Wasn't it bad enough to have regularly slept with the enemy ( ... )

It wasn't actually that long that she was waiting before Rusty showed up. She was trying to be more forgiving this holiday, at least more open for the most part. Her favorite client passing away gave her a bit more of an insight into what things were actually important, that and a playful puppy named Reggie were sure to take most the venom out of her bite for at least a few days.

"Yeah, it's the Christmas Cruise. Tom and Katie... the whole deal! Actually no. Speaking of you not handling my gratitude with that charming smile of yours," which Sam was noticing and wishing she wasn't noticing so early on in the conversation, "How are you with accepting gifts?"

Sam held out the small box in her hands, then pulled it away for a moment. She had put a closet of gifts into Ed's office and ran down her entire system of gifts and the levels of gift for the type of client. She was extremely organized in that sense, but this gift... wasn't one of those gifts. It was similar, but Sam hadn't exactly pulled this particular one off the shelf, so ( ... )
