Pruning roses

Does anyone know a lot about gardening and pruning roses? Nat and I pruned the untamed roses in early spring. They have been incredible since, flowering away. But they are back into crazy state again. Loooong sticks with just one little skinny flower. I know I'm suppose to cut the late winter, early spring, but I have the urge to trim them again.

I always though pruning was an autumn thing... but that's a childhood memory so it's probably wrong. Just make sure to cut on an angle.
