I woke up in a dark room. My whole body was sore. My eyes wouldn't even open all the way. I tried to move but my body still wasn't wanting to work. I let my eyes wander around the room. My sight had cleared up some.
I saw a person sitting in a chair across from the bed I was in. He was tall and had dark shaggy hair. I could see his almost glowing red eyes. "I'm Ty," he said. I couldn't respond. "Derek wanted me to take you in so he could take in Erin."
Erin? Oh yeah, where was she? I tried again to look around more of the room but my body still wasn't working. "W-Where am I?" I managed to get out.
"My house. Like I said, Derek wanted me to take you in."
What had happened? Who was this Ty guy? Did he kidnap me or something. I didn't know. Everything from the night before was a complete blur.
"Do you want to sit up? I can get you something to drink if you want," he said getting up.
"I-I think... Could y-you prop me u-up?" I asked wearily.
"Yeah, sure," he said rushing over. He literally rushed too. It was like he was a blur of nothing. I figured it was just because I was sort of out of it.
Ty adjusted my pillows and me for that matter. I was now lying on my back with my arms at my sides. "C-Can I have th-that drink now?"
"Yeah, I'll be back in a second."
He left the room. I saw that the curtains were drawn and that there was a little light shining through. Why didn't he have the windows open or any lights on? The room was almost pitch dark.
He walked back into the room. "Here you go," he said.
"I c-can't move..." I said.
"Oh, here."
He came closer to my bed and titled my head up. He held the cup to my mouth. I smelled it and it smelled really sweet. I drank it and the flavor caked my tastebuds. It slid down my throat so slowly. It was so warm and inviting. I almost chugged it down. "Wow, what was that?" I asked. I sat up in the bed and cracked my neck, back, and knuckles.
"Blood," he said nonchalntly.
I sputtered and looked at him. "You're kidding, right?"
"No... You don't remember do you?"
"Remember what?"
He sat down on the bed next to me. "Do you remember what happened last night?"
"No, it's all kind of fuzzy."
"Okay, then this is going to be a long story to tell. I am a vampire. And so are--" I cut him off.
"You're a what?" I almost shrieked. I moved away from him some but he just moved closer.
"So are you, Tatum. Derek, Erin's ex-boyfriend, changed you, but wanted me to take you into my house so that he could have her. Do you understand so far?"
"I-I guess... So, I'm a vampire, who drinks blood?"
"Yeah, I guess Derek over did it with the blood. He tends to do that sometimes. Once there was this girl who Derek wanted to change and she was refusing. Well, the police came and he ended up changing her and wiping some of her memory because of all the blood he drank. I have more control than him, though, so you have nothing to worry about if we ever need to feed off one another."
"What? What do you mean feed off each other? Are you insane?"
"Well if we don't find blood, to keep us from killing too many people we drink off each other. It fills you for at least a week and that gives you time to hunt for a secluded location with few people."
"Oh, right, yeah."
"That blood that you just drank was from me and Derek combined. Taste good?"
"Yeah, but that's kind of weird... The whole drinking another vamp's blood... How long can a human's blood satisfy a vamp for?"
"Six months. We only need it at least twice a year. You get thirsty in between but it's not a need for human. Some vamps choose to drink from humans anyways though."
"Really? Is that a bad thing though?"
He hesitated a moment. "Not really, unless it's over six. Then, the police could get involved and stuff for it being murders and stuff like that. So the main rule is keep it on the down low when you need to feed."
"Okay, I think I'm beginning to understand more..."
"Good, because that was a lot to say." He stood up and went to the door. "Come on, do you want to see your friend?"
Erin, oh yeah. Why did I keep forgetting about her? Oh right, my memory was messed up. Great.
I nodded and jumped off the bed and followed Ty out the door. We walked down a couple very dark hallways. When we got to the front of the house it was a bit brighter. It felt like it was so bright though. Ty handed me a pair of sunglasses and a jacket. "We're lucky it's fall," he said smiling.
I put on the stuff he gave me. It felt much better. The sun didn't make me feel a burning feeling anymore.
Ty and I walked out the door and went to a car with very tinted windows. The sun was bright and hot but once I was in the car I was okay. "So, where does Derek live?" I asked Ty as we were buckling up.
"Where does he live? Wait until you see his house. It's perfect for a creature of the night," Ty said starting the car.
He backed out of the driveway and barreled down the street. "Shouldn't you slow down?" I asked him.
"No, we're fine."
He kept driving at almost 100 miles per hour. It was incredible.
When we arrived at Derek's house I felt like I had just been on a roller coaster seven times in a row. "Wow, that was a rush..." I muttered getting out of the car carefully.
"Eh, you get used to it after awhile."
We walked up to the big wrought iron gate. Ty pushed a button and there was a buzzing sound. "It's Ty, man."
"Come in. Do you have..."
"Tatum?"
"Yeah, her. Do you have her with you?"
"Yep! Just like you told me!"
"Good."
The gates opened with a soft creak. We walked up the path. When Derek's house came into view, my jaw hit the ground I think. It was a huge mansion that looked like it should've been in Beverly Hills. It was gothic style and all the windows were tinted black. I saw a limo in the back. "Okay, does Derek really live here?"
"Yep, and has for almost 150 years now. Pretty amazing huh? It's like a vamp's dream."
I just nodded in astonishment. It was just so big and beautiful. I had never seen anything like it.
We walked up the steps and Derek was already at the door. "Erin's upstairs. Go talk to her. She keeps asking about you. I need to talk to Ty," Derek said giving me a cocky smile.
"Okay, thanks," I said.
I went inside the house and stumbled a little. When you first walked in, it looks like something out of an old movie. There were candelas everywhere and a chandelier right above my head. Old paintings lined the walls while black and red rugs covered the floor. There was a winding staircase that lead to the second floor. It was black too. A little vamp cliche but it was okay. I went up the stairs. When I was at the top, I called Erin's name. "Hey Erin! Where are you?"
"Over here!" I saw her in the hallway waving her hand. "Hurry and get your ass over here! We need to talk!"
I walked over to her in a rushed sort of way. She pushed me inside the room then closed and locked the door. "Are you okay? Ty didn't hurt you or anything, right?" She asked walking towards me.
"No, not at all. He's really sweet actually," I said shrugging my shoulders.
"He was always the nicer of the two. When did the pain from the change wear off?"
"Ty gave me some of his and Derek's blood mixed together and I felt better right away. You?"
"I was perfectly fine. I had been through it before. Listen, I know both Ty and Derek seem nice and all but we need to get away from them."
"Why?"
"The last time I was changed Derek went a bit crazy with fresh blood. He took a bunch from me, killed a bunch of humans. It was bad. The master vamp almost had to come in. But we moved away for a hundred years and then came back. It was okay. But I don't want that to happen to--"
There was a knock at the door. "Erin, sweetie, you're going to stay with Ty tonight. I want to keep an eye on our newborn," Derek said.
"Crap..." Erin muttered. "It's best not to make him mad. Okay!"
"Wait, no, I want to go back with Ty," I said.
"It'll be fine. It's just for tonight... I hope."
"What do you mean 'I hope'? Will he try to keep me longer."
Erin sighed and sat me on the bed that was in the middle of the room. "Okay, I broke up with Derek a long time ago. He's been searching for me ever since. I had a special bond with him since he changed me. Now, Ty has changed me for the second time and Derek has changed you. I don't really know how this will play out, but Derek might like you now."
"What? What are you talking about?"
"Like I said, there's a special bond with a master and the person whom he or she changed or his or her newborn."
"Great..."
"I'm sorry."
"What time is it exactly?" I asked.
"It's about six in the evening. That's why I'm packing now because won't want to be out with all the other vamps roaming around."
"Other vamps?"
She nodded her head. "Ty and Derek have a long list of enemy vamps. It's all territorial shit. No big-y."
"No big-y? Isn't that a big problem?"
"No, Derek and Ty will keep both of us safe."
"Oh okay..."
Erin packed as quickly as she could--which was vampire fast--and was out the door in seconds. She gave me a quick hug and was gone.
YAY! IT'S FINISHED!!!!!!
