Mac was pointedly avoiding anything and everything Parent's Weekend related. Her family weren't coming, so why should she deal with the hoardes of people? She was really pretty glad she didn't have her shift in the library today ( Read more... )

Cassidy wasn't about to be spending he and Dick's already lacking funds on a school without making sure it was worth the tuition first. So he had been exploring the dorms while Dick was taking his second nap of the day.

When he came across Mac's room he stopped in front of the doorway for a moment to stare at Poe.

"Is that a lemming?" he asked.

"Yes." Mac took a bit of a double-take when she saw Cassidy in her doorway, and paused her game. Only after getting herself killed, though.

Logically, she knew Dick would have someone turn up to Parent's Weekend. She just hadn't thought it would be someone she'd actually recognise. "Hi," she added, a little belatedly.

"Hi." Cassidy said back. "I didn't mean to interrupt. It's just...lemming. Kind of an odd pet. Odd in a cool way, I mean."

"Oh, you're not, really. That's Poe," Mac said, giving him a quick smile as she sat up. "I kind of inherited him."

Peter came to his room some handwavey amount of time after Beaver and knocked on the doorframe to get Mac's attention. "Hey. Up for company?"

By which he meant up for meeting Nathan, who was waiting in the hall.

Mac sat up a bit further, pausing her game again. So far the parent invasion hadn't killed her, so she was feeling pretty positive, really.

"Sure," she said, with a little nod. "Just mind the ball moving around on it's own, somewhere about."

"Will do," Peter promised. He came in, keeping an eye out to make sure said ball didn't go rolling past and out into the hallway. Nathan came in behind him.

"Nathan, this is my roommate, Mac," Peter said, gesturing between them as he did the introductions. "Mac, this is my big brother Nathan."

"Nice to meet you," Nathan said, because he had automatic polite social skills like that. Said skills were the same reason why he managed to successfully hide his surprise at Mac's gender.

"Nice to meet you too," Mac returned, getting up to greet him. "Enjoying your visit so far?" She can do polite small talk when she feels like it.
