I haven't a strong idea of spirit. I am no ghost, no haunted object, no embodiment of any once-physical thing. My consciousness is the result of magic that had, once awry, needed to be expelled into some object. Is it like that with all wizards. Sourcerors simply created the objects into which they find their power expelled. What's more, I am the ( Read more... )

*Jacob sees the mirror and stops to regard it with a wary eye, curious but too cautious to approach*

OOC: *waves* Hello! I think your muse is brilliant. Hope you don't mind the reply :)

Another spark of curiosity, tempered by another hint of worry, appears in Jacob's face as the light shifts within the mirror. Careful not to walk directly in front of it, he makes a circle around the mirror, examining it. Standing to the side of it, he reaches out and touches the frame, and looks up to examine the engraving on the top.

Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi, He mouths without speaking, and then puts his fingers to his lips, puzzling over the words and temptation to look.

He has no idea the nature of what he would see, but he's learned to be careful around mirrors. Never know what might be inside.

Jacob is a smart one; the Mirror is, of course, quite forthcoming in telling its inlookers about what they're about to see, but powerful magic can sometimes turn things around a bit. Or more than a bit, as it were.

The frame is cool to the touch, but even a Muggle could feel that there's something... off about it. Without being cloaked by Unplottables or anything of the sort, this kind of ancient magic is accessible to anyone with the gumption to give it a go. Although that is an impressive thing in itself.
