LJ Idol Season eight, week 22, Bridge

In the middle of the night I heard a loud crash. It jolted me awake, my heart thudding in my chest. My mother got out of bed to investigate. She opened the front door and went out in the yard to look up and down the street, but nothing was there. She opened the back door to check on our livestock, but nothing was there either. We went back to ( Read more... )

Wow! This is almost like the kid in my neighborhood died. He was walking on the road at 4 AM, stoned on acid. A car hit him and he flew off into a ditch. The driver was semi-asleep at the wheel, coming home from a night shift. Driver thought he'd hit a deer. He reported hitting a deer to the cops, but they found no deer and no blood. It took 48 hrs to find the boy, hidden in the ditch under bushes. We don't know if he died instantly or crawled around a while. I have to drive by that site every day on my way home. I taught him in school too. AW

Yeah. It was rough here a few weeks ago. The memorial service was very powerful and intense, but I'm glad I went. AW

When I die I hope that I am not stuck here. I’d rather it be quick, like the man who drove off the road one night, just feet from my bed as I slept so peacefully.

I liked your ending a lot. I hope I'm not stuck here, either, when I die.

A sad story. Accidents like that happen a lot, he could have fallen asleep at the wheel or had a seizure, who knows? Yeah.

I can't remember if they thought he was drinking or sleeping or what. It's been so long now.

A sad situation. Wish I could say I didn't know anything about such things, but that's my life. You wrote it very well although I was surprised that the TV station who always have a knack for finding the weirdest looking and acting person in the neighborhood to make a statement came up dry. Maybe all your neighbors were normal looking with brains.

We lived in the country. There wwas only us and the neighbors nearby. So not a lot of options for the news hounds.
