In which I have grumbly thoughts and come off as arrogant and self-involved. But I'm so sick of people thumbing their nose up at anything that isn't Steve/Danny.

I love the Steve/Danny relationship, but it's not all the show is. Sure it's a big part at times, but I love everything else just as much. I want to see Cath being awesome, I want Kono to grow in her job, and sure Danny wasn't in the episode for a while, but he was fairly present after that. I remember an episode vividly last season where Kono wasn't in it for at least fifteen, and this was after her terrible storyline, so I remember it well. But Danny gets plenty of focus, compare him to what Kono and Chin have had this season (or whole show long), and then try and make me believe that Danny gets a rough shot.

I love that it was Kono that went with Steve to Maui, so often it's Steve and Danny who do these things, and I always want the show to mix up the partnering a bit. But I know a lot of people don't. After watching so much Rookie Blue, where they always keep the partners mixing, it's good when they switch it.

Exactly, there's so much more. I'm confused by how people can look at women - in a lot of shows, really - and only judge them based on their interference level in regards to the slash ship. And maybe nobody is doing that - I would be delighted if people could make me eat my words, but it doesn't seem like it ( ... )

I was, I hadn't really gotten enough of her to judge her either way. But I think the difference was, I was open to liking her. I didn't go in thinking boo another woman. I've always wanted more girls, last season I hoped they'd do that with Jenna, and then with Lori, and it was handled badly and they were bundled off. I didn't want that to happen again. It's my main problem with this show, the way it deals with the female characters. It's not just a fandom reaction, it's there in the show. Why they added Lori, how they immediately forgot about Kono's IA thing, till it was relevant to a different plot. And how Lori was supposedly there to keep an eye on them, but it was never mentioned, never even hinted at. Till they needed an excuse to get her out. I would have loved them to mention that. I do like her fitting in with the team. But it could have added great tension. I mean they never even had a scene where Kono and Lori figured each other out after Kono was reinstated, sure they probably had one, but you can't find a ( ... )

I pretty much would ship Catherine all on her ownsome I think she is that awesome. Or with Steve. Or with Steve and Danny...
That came out not quite right...

Catherine = WIN.

I ship Steve and Danny so, so hard but the little canon whore in me is more than happy with Catherine. She is Steve's equal in the same way Danny is. I'm loving this season!

Tbh, there's a weird part of me that ships Cath/Danny, so don't worry! And I know what you mean.

And yes, sometimes I think Cath would be better off just leaving 50 behind and taking over the world on her own. *G*

Cath is wonderfully suited to Steve, she really is.

(This is Christine, by the way!)

First off, I have to comment on the multi-shipping thing..even though you may be surrounded by multi-shippers, the majority of them I've seen are McDanno shippers first off, then everyone else. There's no lack of McDanno shippers. (Though maybe you're just referring to the little group you stay on in tumblr, which then it would make sense.)

I think the thing I hate the most are the people who keep going on about the lack of Steve/Danny screentime and I just don't get it - they've had a good amount of screen time every single episode. Complaining about that is the last thing I can think about doing, especially with the small amount that Chin has gotten - even compared to Kono, who hasn't had much either besides 307. And I kind of hate when people conventionally forget that Danny isn't the only one Steve was prepared to die for - he also did it for Jenna and Chin (and probably outside of canon his whole time as a SEAL.) Yes, Danny's special, but those other two moments can't be forgotten ( ... )

Okay, so, I'm about 70% asleep atm, but I'm going to try to reply because so many thoughts, so little time. Please excuse any run-on sentences and contradictions.

Yup, absolutely, I meant within the little cluster of people that I spend my time with. Without a doubt, the majority of fandom are Steve/Danny shippers, (I would assume McRollins is the most popular for the world at large?) My point was more that... I am a Steve/Danny shipper, I sometimes spam people with my feelings, but Steve/Danny shipping doesn't have to mean rudeness.

The anger regarding a lack of Steve/Danny screentime makes zero sense, because we've had SO much this season. This season has been a real gem, for Steve/Danny shippers. And yes - I'm sure Steve would lay down his life for any member of his team - or a random stranger! That's the nature of his job, and the nature of his personality. My point was more... that of everything we could have been given, we were given Steve and Danny. I don't know if I'm articulating this well, sorry. In truth, I think ( ... )

Thank you, Iby, for saying all these things. I tend to get very rage-y when people complain about Danny (or Steve, but I don't think that happens hardly at all) not being in the episode right away ( ... )

Lenkov et al has stated that the core of the show rests upon the relationship between Steve and Danny. (I don't necessarily think that's a great thing). But Steve and Cath could get married and have lots of gorgeous chubby children, and the central force behind the show would still be the relationship between Steve and Danny. We really don't need to be so defensive of Steve/Danny, because it's always going to be there, no matter what happens.

And exactly! People say they want "just the core four!" (Which, I object to in general, because hello - as a show grows, there are going to be more characters. That is the way it works, that is life).

But then when we do have lots of Chin and Kono time, people get sulky. Although I will readily confess that at the same time, the opposite is also true: I am seeing more calls for Kono and Chin, which is wonderful ( ... )
