Camp NaNoWriMo

It's seems like I'm constantly entitling my post with some variation of "I'm Alive!!!" so I thought I would just cut to the chase this time. Obviously, I am alive, but I'm not really on livejournal much anymore. I've actually mostly moved to deviantart, which I thought I would never do because writing is writing and art is art. However, dA has a ( Read more... )

Dude. I don't even know how you do it... For every 10,000 words I write, I delete 7,000. It's the most horrific thing, and not to mention frustrating...

Right now I've got a goal of 10,000 because I'll take whatever the hell I can get. But I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE more!

Tell me your secret!

You know what I love now. Googledrive, though a full MS Word would work just as well. It's the comments feature that I love the best. A good portion (maybe all) of what I write is crap, but it's important to get the words down, so you know what needs to be changed. Just highlight, insert comments and you can explain why it should be deleted, what doesn't work, what would change to make it better all without having to delete anything.

I think I remember you saying you liked editing. I've found that I like it to. With the comments feature, I can tear my work to shreds without losing any of the word count.

The most important things never delete. Or, because advice really can't be absolutes, replace whatever you delete with even more words. Delete 7,000? Write 8,000. But I would definitely curb the desire to mass delete. 7,000 words is like erasing a week of writing. Can't really pretend it didn't happen ( ... )

GREAT ADVICE. All of this. Thank you!

I'm so excited for Camp. (TOMORROW!!!!) It's a great way to keep myself motivated and held accountable for what I'm writing.

I've been revising what I do have and that's been going surprisingly well. I really, DESPERATELY need to stop doing the mass-delete thing. Right now, for this next month, it's all about ADDING WORDS!

Can't wait to keep up with you here during Camp! WOOT.

Happy to help!

How's camp going? Finding time to write? I'm writing, just not writing about writing. I haven't posted a journal about it yet. Ugh, I'm so bad.
