They were finally gone, dead, and strangely, they had all disappeared. As far as the detective was aware, none had perished in the freakish attack, although many of them had come rather close. L was sure that she had influenced this rather heavily. His brilliant mind was still reeling rather uncomfortably from the shock of learning that his entire existence in this town was due to the imagination of a mentally handicapped child. He was still attempting to discover...was it all false, then? Were his memories of earth incorrect? Had he always only existed in her head, or had she somehow heard of him and his story? It was enough to make even his head ache.

He had come to the town restaurant that morning, and he sat there still, a rather large dessert variety spread before him. He had ordered inhuman amounts of food, all based in sugar, and had washed it all down with overly-sweetened tea. He needed the energy desperately, his mind was running at an inordinate pace and he could hardly keep up. Thus far, he had eaten several cakes, a pan of cupcakes, a bunch of bananas, three bushels of strawberries dipped in chocolate, a bowl of cherries, a honeydew melon, two cantaloupe, three kiwis, five clementine oranges, an entire strawberry pie, and a pan of blondies. The proprietor of the establishment had long given up on proper manners and now sat staring at him, occasionally leaving only to make bets with the other workers on how long he would keep it up.

He was miserable, but the sugar was fueling his thought processes, and at this rate, he needed something to or his brain might have been in danger of quitting altogether. He let his fingers run softly over the roughly hewn wood, his dark eyes staring off at nothing at all. With his other hand, he was carefully separating grapes from their stems and popping them into his mouth. After several moments of this, he realized that there was another restaurant patron sitting in his periphery. He looked over at the other man, dark eyes inquisitive as always, and said, "It appears that we are free of dragons. Cheers."
