i was standing on the bering strait
waving to you in alaska...
a giant oil well was drilled into the ocean floor
making many men wealthier than they'd ever been before
slowly, the well started to leak
they couldn't see the damage, what did they care?
subtlely, the water turned the consistency of ink
and the molecules of H20 began to shrink
determination tugged at me one day
and i went for a swim in the icy cold ocean
i held my breath until my face turned blue
all to fix the leak that served to sadden you
the damage is over, you can open your eyes now
see me waving from the other side?
"still the waves crash, blackest color i've ever seen"
in time, i say, it'll be back to that glorious green.
