[ History ] :
I'm not fit to help anyone. Not my family. Not my friends... Nobody. [ Personality ] :
Cloud Strife was once a cheerful, but shy individual, hoping to become a part of the SOLDIER program. He once idolized Sephiroth alongside his friend and mentor Zack Fair. However, the death of his friend and the "Nibelheim Incident" caused a dramatic change in his personality, turning the young teenager to a stoic practically overnight (though in reality, it was four years). When his idol burned down his hometown of Nibelheim and gravely injured his friends Zack and Tifa Lockhart -of whom he had promised to protect before leaving their hometown for Midgar - he doesn't hesitate to avenge them with Zack's Buster Sword. Gravely injured by this and on the verge of death, he and Zack were taken to Shinra Manor where they became a part of the Jenova Project. These experiments twisted Cloud's mind, enhancing his already strong body but leaving him in a coma for over four years alongside Zack. When he'd finally recovered from Mako poisoning, Zack had gone to his death.
"All you are is an empty puppet."
The loss of his friend made him snap and with the Jenova cells placed inside him, the situation caused the stress and cells to create a false SOLDIER persona for him to use: an exceedingly arrogant mercenary who cared little for what was happening to the Planet. It used his memories of Zack in it's wake, mixing it and the impressions he had of 1st Class SOLDIERs were supposed to be like. It takes chasing Sephiroth around the world and the death of Aerith Gainsborough to make this persona break.
Ever since, Cloud has been wracked with grief and regret, becoming more remorseful and dark over their deaths. His failure to save two of his friends haunts him to this day, but the final straw to break the chocobo's back was when he contracted Geostigma. All of these problems combined caused the man to be lost in despair and helplessness, leaving behind his friends to live alone in the slums so as to not cause them more grief. Yet they found him, and began showing his lost soul the way even with the problems they faced - both together and alone.
Despite the pain of having to bear all this on his shoulders, he remains loyal to those he cares for and whenever something would attempt to do them harm, he'll immediately step in to protect them. He would go so far as to put his own life on the line, a hidden strength that is shown in Advent Children Complete when Denzel and Tifa, then later Barret were about to be killed in the midst of the fight with Bahamut Sin.
He is also compassionate, which is seen when he comes across a sickly Denzel passed out next to his motorcycle with his phone in hand. The last thing seen in Denzel's point of view is an outstretched hand and, even though a sick, filthy orphan boy, Cloud ignored the taboo about Geostigma and brought him home like Tifa said, even holding the boy's trembling hand as they rode back.
In short, he's a broken man with unresolved issues in his past yet still maintains a hidden heart of gold.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
☁
Click here for Cloud's abilities.☁ As the link above will show, Cloud is incredibly skilled with the broadsword. Due to the alterations the Jenova cells did to his body, his strength is almost superhuman and he's normally quite agile. ...Normally.
☁ As for weaknesses, Cloud is mentally unstable when it comes to Sephiroth. Though the severity has lessened, his ties to the one-winged angel are still strong and thus it holds him back and occasionally causes him to break down and collapse due to his denial and willingness to be his own person.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
☁ He's a failed specimen in the Jenova Project according to classified Shinra records.
☁ Cloud will be coming with his six-piece buster blade.
☁ He's able to wield six swords at once, but it takes quite a bit of energy to do so.
☁ As an ex-infantryman, he is quite skilled with a rifle though he prefers broadswords.

[Light... that's all he could see on the outside of his eyelids. It was a dream he'd had ever since exploding in a last-ditch attempt to defeat the two remaining remnants. The light was peaceful, almost comforting-
Fire, maniacal chuckle, and that sword.
He jumps into a sitting position, awake and startled by an image that always would torment him for the rest of his life. ...Sephiroth really was a nightmare. Cloud shook his head, more embarrassed about falling asleep in the middle of some- ...wait. Why was he wet and in the middle of some plaza- And with a giant coral that was seemingly cut in half and glowing?
...Vatheon? Wait, how did he know that-? Oh, right. That dream after the fight with those three in the forest. That was the only excuse for Kadaj having pink streaks in his hair. Sure, he was as flamboyant as who he was a remnant of, but come on... Pink?
And there was also a fairy hovering over his head. Perfect. Let him wake up now- OW.
Okay, getting smacked in the face with some kid's ball reminded him of something: he's awake. So that hadn't been a dream all this time? ...Sigh. Now he felt a headache coming along. The local ran up to him, looking rather apologetic but all the blond does is shrug it off.]
It's alright, kid. [After all, it was an accident. His gaze does soften slightly though, giving the kid a hair tussle before walking off. If any other local tried to stop him, he would just shrug and go on his way.] I know where to go.
[After all, he knew where to get dry clothes in a style he liked. It was all thanks to... Effy, right? Huh. Who'd have thought a 'dream' could get so fuzzy?]
