Secret Santa Post
So I signed up for teffy's "Dabble a Drabble Secret Santa Project." Why, I don't know, but I did. I write bazillion drabbles for someone annonymously, and some random person writes little ficlets for me. THIS POST IS FOR YOU, RANDOM PERSON. Hee. ^_^

Mrs. Weasley was always good for a hug and a snack, while Mr. Weasley tried so hard to understand her Muggle life. Bill and Charlie were the big brothers she had never had but always wanted, protective and funny but always knew when to give her space. Percy was the quiet one, the one who understood her love of school and books and, while he may have always been the brother she got along with the worst, he could always be counted on for a good academic debate. Fred and George treated her like they treated Ginny: she was another guinea pig they needed to fear and protect all at the same time. Ginny was her confidant, her sister, her third best friend.
And Ron? Ron was Ron and that was all she ever needed.

“If, Kate; don’t get your hopes up.”
“Well thank you, Doctor Downer, for playing along with my little fantasy.”
“You were having a fantasy?”
“I was about to.”
“Well now I’m interested.”
“Are you going to stop being morbid and depressing?”
“Who was being morbid and depressing? I was simply being practical.”
“Being practical is bad for your health.”
“I’m the doctor, I decide what’s bad for your health.”
“Do you wanna hear my fantasy?”
“Mmhmm.”
“When we get off here, I plan on living in the middle of the U.S., away from any major bodies of water, and spending all the money I get from Oceanic on air conditioning that will run year round.”
“Year round AC, huh?”
“Yep.”
“Even in the winter?”
“Yes, Jack; it’s so damn hot here I just wanna cool off. AC on in the winter, summer, anytime.”
“You’d get awfully cold, having the AC on in winter.”
“Well maybe you’ll be there to warm me up.”

“It’s tradition, Mal. I know you’re not one for ever having fun, but-”
“Hey! I have fun!”
“Shooting people and starting brawls do not count.” He hangs his head in acknowledgement. “Now, as I was saying, it’s a tradition.”
“I don’t care, I ain’t puttin’ it up.” She crosses her arms and narrows her eyes. He smirks at her, shakes his head; she looks so gorram pretty when she’s mad.
She sighs. “If I help you test it, can we put it up?”
Mal grabs the mistletoe from her hand and tacks it to the kitchen doorway before she changes her mind.

“Didn’t Luna say that stuff had nargles in it?” Ron mumbles, pointing weakly at the mistletoe that Hermione is standing under.
“What are nargles?”
“I dunno, but she said they were bad.” He shuffles his feet nervously. Why the bloody hell am I procrastinating? I could be kissing Hermione Granger, for pete’s sake! Fred and George are right: I’m mental.
“So you aren’t going to kiss me because Loony Lovegood said that nargles live in mistletoe?” She crosses her arms impatiently.
“Well, when you put it like that, I just sound daft,” he says, ears burning, as he leans in to kiss her.

“You two finally doing something about… it?” A voice calls from below. Inara looks to see Zoe sitting atop some crates in the corner. Inara descends the last few steps, climbing up the cargo carefully to join the first mate.
“I- I don’t understand. Who-”
“You and Mal,” Zoe shrugs. Mal. Not Captain. This is personal.“What about us?” Inara prays she doesn’t bring up their relationship. The last person she wants to talk to about her and Mal’s relationship - could it even be called that? - was the new widow ( ... )
