Feeling better already. I was giving permission to take my pain meds more frequently now so there isn't a few hour gap filled with pain anymore.

So ridiculous- was that a mistake on the part of the surgeon, or unavoidable?

It was unavoidable and it looks like it might not be nerve damage now. The dentist thinks that it's just swelling that is pressing on the nerve and it should get better in the next couple weeks.
