My my my, how things do change! I still remember having a party-line at the house, and I remember when our monthly phone bill paid for a total of 20 local calls (more was extra, paid by the call so we really tried not to go over 20 calls) I remember when long-distance was EXPENSIVE!!! I actually intend to 'downgrade' the next time I get a phone. I have been very unhappy with my current phone and would love to be able to turn off the extra features -- something with which Sprint's Tech support has been unable to do.

I have a much better GPSs, phone, and MP3 player each as seperate units. The PDA type functions *might* tempt me a little since my Palm seems to be slowly dying, but really I just want a phone that makes calls.

I dunno. I've had the most basic phone ever....until my carrier (US Cellular) offered a fantastic deal. I got an LG Tritan for $110 (with rebate to come in 10 weeks of $50, so that makes net $60). Of course you have to sign up for another 2 year plan at that time, but I had to do that anyway (we cover the niece's college phone who doesn't graduate for 2 more years ( ... )

oh, and on the other functions
Reason #4 - GPS. I do need that. Hubby's GPS doesn't work in my crappy car because I can't use the cigarette lighter to charge it (plus stupid GPS broke anyway and hubby can't find the time to fix it).
Reason #5 - mp3 player sounds like fun. I put my (gifted) iPod in a holder with a magnet closure and since then it only works on the wobbly laptop. Doesn't work in the car, for reason #4 above.
Are you getting the idea that I'm not so techno savvy? You'd be right. Perhaps that's why I'm so pleased with the LG. ah well, call me the aol user of the cell world!
