Been ages since I posted, and I went something like 6 weeks not even accessing or reading LJ. Sorry, all, but "real life" can be kinda annoying at times

I've missed you, too!!! Was hoping I'd maybe see you Saturday night but I'm thinking that I won't actually be making the drive up to the coffee shop show. Am actually really happy about how the bits of exercise and eating less are going. Am trying to eat reasonably healthy, apples are currently my snack-food of choice. Food volume is way down and I'm making good progress, I think, on the psychology parts. There will always be a chance at food if I want some later, no need to stuff myself now, some now and some later is just fine. And savor and enjoy and appreciate, don't just eat without thought. All good and important things, methinks!
Good to see you posting. I'd assumed you were alive, but was kind of worried about how the surgery had gone. Good job on the lifestyle changes! Sounds like you're already making a lot of progress without having to drive yourself completely batshit. :)
So...I shouldn't make sure you know about my recipe blog, then? ;)
I'll not make light of the surgery, the knee is NOT good, and he was absolutely flabbergasted when I sauntered across the exam room without pain. He didn't think it possible for me to ever saunter again! Apparently somewhere in the knee there's supposed to be this smooth curvy bit that bulges out in this pretty arc. Also apparently, it looks as though something took a large bite out of my arc, and I have this cavernous, craterous hole where no such hole should be. He told me that he drilled tons of holes in the cavity and really got the blood flowing, non hopes it would spur my body to remodel some and at least make the hole more shallow... Scary stuff, truly

shewhobringsflowers.wordpress.com - it's in the infancy stages right now, but it's a place to stash the recipes I'm working on/with, and hopefully eventually gardening and other stuff as well. I read a lot of cooking/sustainability/ecology blogs, and realized it was a decent way to keep a log of some of the weird stuff I do to amuse myself in the kitchen and around the house.
yeah, knees are tricky, and it sounds like that one was pretty close to toast. Glad you're up and moving so well - knee replacement surgery does work if people take both it and the rehab afterwards seriously, but like most major surgeries, it's best to try and be as healthy as possible without it for as long as you can manage. (which I periodically need to remind myself - if I don't keep on top of my core strength, I'll end up having to have back surgery way too soon...)
Finally found a few minutes to read your blog and wanted to say that it's absolutely lovely! I look forward to reading your further kitchen/gardening adventures. I'm sure you'll come up with things that are simply wonderful!
What I'm finding so interesting is how many recipes I'm finding that both sound wonderful and are either vegetarian, or so close to vegetarian that they could easily switch over. Need to still find the time to actually COOK some of these things, but I suspect that I shall, one of these days. Thought of you the other day when I made amilyn's carrot/ginger soup. Totally vegan and DELISH! Do let me know when you guys will be in town, as I've a recipe for a lasagna that I'm dying to try out, and am hoping to share with you. (features butternut squash and chestnuts

Glad you're recovering, sounds like you have a good doctor and an excellent attitude toward your health. One can hope for nothing better! Good to see you here again. welcome back.
A big YAY for making a new healthy lifestyle change! That is awesome that you're totally serious about changing your life so you can really enjoy a better quality of living. 35 pounds - that is great! Good for you! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you will make your goal in the time you've set out for yourself.
