I love the house... still not in love with the SCA

I love the house the progress that we are making.

The canned lighting is almost in... the cabins come in on Saturday... Jim and I will be installing the gas line this weekend.  All in all the kitchen will be up and going all but the counter top.  I think it will look fantastic when it is done.

Frankly, I am suffering from cosmic jet lag. My apathy is less about the SCA and more about getting this house in order. I want a place where people feel comfortable to visit. This ain't it right now..To be clear, there are SCA 'people' in this area that are stellar. I just don't have the energy to broaden my horizons much. William is no longer interested in the SCA, which makes family choices a bit more challenging.

I understand, take a break.
See you in a few years.

How wonderful that you've got a major project which you are enjoying! I hope that all goes well with the house and that it is soon in a state that makes you all happy to call it "home".

I'm not surprised that you don't want to play these days--I am beginning to think that the word "Pelican" means "someone who used to be quite active in the SCA, but doesn't really play much any more, for personal reasons which are ever so valid". Seems to be true the Known World over--look at the list of Peers in a local group, the ones with feathers are the ones least likely to play. I teased Khevron about it the other day, since he wasn't making it to Coronet--called him a "damn inactive Pelican", and he decided he likes the term "DIPs"...

It sounds like it'll be quite a kitchen. I hope you'll share some photos when it's done. :-)

You've earned your SCA time off. I can totally understand just wanting to concentrate on other things right now. Maybe the Middle Kingdom is just going through a rough patch right now. My barony was a scary place around 8 years ago (so I hear), but by the time I moved there in 2001, it was a safe again. I'm thinking that perhaps kingdoms can have odd cycles from time to time as well.

Banging and clanking, huh? ;-) Sorry, I've been spending too much time with parlor_games...
