guinea pigs are awesome pets. here's a tip though: they need vitamin C! you have to get them supplements or else they will eventually die of scurvy! i didn't know what was wrong with mine until this happened, i took him to the vet, and she told me he had scurvy. i seriously stayed up and gave him vitamin c supplements for 2 nights, fed him baby food in a syringe, and he still died. it SUCKED. just remember the VITAMIN C! they can't produce their own.

ahhh yes I know about the vitamin C, thats so sad about yours. i hate that they have an illness called scurvy cuz it just makes me think of pirates and i think it would be cool to have a swashbuckling guinea pig. I got him treats that have vitamin c in them and today after i get off work I'm going to get alot of fruit and veggies for him, last night I tried to give him an slice of an orange but either he was still too freaked out or he doesnt like oranges.I'm so excited though, I cant wait for bailey to see him!

well im sure you can have a swashbuckling guinea pig minus the scurvy because i am sure that all pirates didn't have scurvy! haha, but you are right about thinking about pirates when you think of scurvy because that's what my dad said when i told him my guinea pig had it: "i thought that was something that old pirates or sailors got".

how the heck does bailey not know you have him with all the squeaking they do??? my gp (ha, that was his name too, G.P.) was like the size of a small dog with a squeak to match!

she was at her aunts house till today and he hasnt done any squeaking yet I dont think hes comfy enough but until Sunday his cage is set up in my room on top of my dresser which is in my closet so as long as I keep my closet doors shut she wont go in there. and then on christmas morning my mom and I are going to wrap his cage up and then put him in a seperate box so he doesnt freak out from the ripping paper sound and she'll have to unwrap a book about guinea pigs and the cage before she opens his box
