hey it's me again from Anthropologist. I just thought of another interesting angle you can cover about your ghost thing. There's a Taoist practice where you can actually marry a ghost. Truth be told, I haven't heard much of it since my younger days but I'm sure this sort of practice is still common in taiwan and malaysia, at least. There's a website I found which talks a bit about it

I just thought this is a more interesting investigation for your class, although I'm not sure if there are any academic literature available for this. It's a much more uncanny sort of practice compared to the Hungry Ghost fest. which has resonance to Day of the Dead and All Souls' Day etc.

The only other culture I'm aware of that has this sort of marraige is vodou, although they seem to be marrying sort of god/ancestral semi divine figures more than just ordinary 'ghost' so to speak. Check it out. Good luck!
