So, phase One of our NORTH vs. SOUTH tour commenced last Friday morning...quite early. Throughout our adventure, we traveled through:
....as well as New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania, but I was too lazy to get up at Rest Stops to take pictures of random license plates.
For those not familiar with military acronyms, AWOL means "absent without leave"...so yeah, my parents got creative with our RV license plates:
Luckily we were in the RV, so it made for the ultimate comfort vehicle for travelling:
When we finally got to Maine:
we stayed at my Uncle's beatiful house in South Paris, Maine:
They had a pond with a hammock, and a spazzy dog named Della.
And a beautiful streaming bordering their property:
Dinner was to die for...real Maine lobster, and it was cheap:
Before-- (my uncle and I with the lobster about to be steamed)
and after....(mmmm soo good)
And like any Hawes vacation, we can't go without seeing/using a tractor:
When it got time for touring, Mainerds/Maniacs/Manians, are weird when it came to choosing names for their towns:
Overall, perhaps it was good bonding time with my parents stopping at West Point, Boston, Carlisle and Portland along the way:
Hammocking was fun. Gave me a lot of time to think. I can now say that we have stopped at every freakin Cracker Barrel in the northeast...and the more north you go, the less sugar put into that tea. What a shame...
Phase Two of Hawes Family Vacation will commence on Tuesday...where our travels take us through the Deep South to Texas. Whopee. Finally time to go home again.
