I just got a letter of acceptance into the Respiratory Care program at Miami-Dade College. I've been trying to get into the program for three+ years now, taking classes and such (a bit slowly, but I've been trying to work the whole time too

Congratulations, both on how well you have done with quitting smoking and on getting into your program. I have every confidence that you will excel and become one hell of a respiratory therapist - and you are right, having that understand and empathy will only make you a better caregiver.
