I agree. Kira just lost all his newly acquired cool points with that move. Shuuhei had the situation well in hand and then Kira has to go and be a dick.

I don't know why Ikkaku didn't haul out the ban-kai. I mean, he's got to know this is an important fight. Who the hell cares, really? Everybody knows Renji has ban-kai. What's the big freaking deal? I can sort of understand Yumi hiding his zanpakutou given the nature of it's power and the division he's in, but seriously, Ikkaku, get a grip.
Seriously! It's like he's a different person. He seems a little unbalanced, that one. My strongest impression of him was back in the SS arc and he was having a little fit in his cell for drawing his sword on Momo. And his cell was all tore up.
...I didn't like old Kira...but I like new Kira even less.
He really is under-used, isn't he? Half the time I forget about him and Unohana. They're involved in some major scenes, but they just don't stand out, really. But why is it whenever someone goes to hit Komamura, he just stands there?!
I think a lot of people are going to be mad at Kira for what he did to Yumi. I know I am. When Yumi wakes up and doesn't know what's happened to Ikkaku, he's going to freak. (And oh, how I was enjoying his reaction to Ikkaku falling...it's rare to see that kind of a reaction, seems to me!)
Yeah both of em are just kinda THERE. :/ Maybe he just likes to see how strong others are? By letting them hit him in the face.. yeah.. I got nothin.
As much as I like normal, in control, Yumi I do like seeing him this way too. I'd love to see him flip out at Ikkaku for scaring him like that. Though I don't think the aftermath of that will be shown. I really think that's the only thing that would ever make Ikkaku say sorry. lol
I gotta agree with unbalanced comment you made to fushi. Dude is loosing it. I'm startin to think Tite Kubo is setting Kira up to go off his rocker and get killed. Prolly by Gin or his own emo /wrist break down.
I also think Matsumoto should be the one to get a hold of Gin.

Or he does something completely different and messes us all up again. Still..I think he's a little too unstable to handle things well. Ah...I doubt the aftermath will be shown as well, and that sucks. I'd really like to see Yumi flip out and Ikkaku have to deal with it. Yumi's reaction was all the more striking because faced with his own death, he was still pretty cool about the whole thing. He was willing to fail. But Ikkaku...different story.
That's a very nice way of looking at the whole Kira thing. I fully admit to my Kira bias...I have never liked him. And what you said about a 'lowly' fifth seat' being chosen to defend the tower was exactly right. Yumi was there instead of other Vice-Captains. I was happy to see Shuu a little unhappy with Kira's decision.
Even if he's not a traitor...I can't trust the guy.
