Ah... I love that this is vanilla! You mentioned that it would be, and I'm so glad that you wrote it this way! I think to me, that playful interaction between Renji and Rukia is so much more interesting, especially when coupled with meaningful talk between the two, a reflection on their childhood, and humour to provide a break from the sap.
