The minute, the very second, I become attached to any character at all, I've utterly doomed them.
I'M NOT ALONE.
Me: I like Sirius! Sirius: ::dies:: Me: I like Snape! Snape: ::dies:: Me: I like Lu--oh shit. Lupin: 8D ::dies::
There was actually a point where I went into a movie with my sister talking about how all my favorite characters die, and during the movie, I leaned over to her and said, "I like that guy." Not even thirty seconds later, he was dead. D:
That left a sour taste in your mouth, too? It astounds me that he used the resurrection stone to see his parents, Sirius, and Remus, but not Dumbledore or Snape, whose council would have been far more valuable, but then names that kid "Albus Severus"? Don't Sirius or Remus get any love?
Seems to me Harry's got his priorities out of order.
I have denial down to an art form and am now pretending that the poison wasn't actually deadly but in reality produced a deathlike sleep! It can be cured by true love's kiss or some crap a la snow white and hey, instant fic material, and it's still kind of canon... It could so work :/
Besides, it's not like Harry, Ron, or Hermione stuck around to see if he was really dead, or even tried to revive him. I think I'll just decide that (as you've inspired me to think) the poison just knocked him out in a bad way, but since he's all magical and potion-y, he's just down for the count.... maybe THAT's why Harry didn't see him when he used the stone! *start's thinking of as many ways as possible to undermine JKR's murderous intent*
