Sam trying to validate how he and Dean are still good people (er, demons?), and Dean having a moment of clarity but cognitive dissonance setting in. Bobby, in his own way, doing the very same thing. It was just so twisted on a psychological level and it was awesome.
For a story where the boys go darkside, this has more hope than I expected. While their use of Bobby was horrific, it is also very clever in keeping Lucifer at bay. Well done!
Thanks! The boys are definitely darkside, but they're not completely evil.
I do feel sorry for Bobby, though. There were parts that I cut out because they didn't fit and weren't going anywhere, but he was safe, but he was also a prisoner, a hostage to keep the rest of the world alive, and he knew it.
