CHARACTER NAME: C.C.
FANDOM: Code Geass
CANON: Post-series
WHAT THEY LOST: C.C.'s loss is her "true wish" to be loved. Throughout the series it is implied her one true longing was to end her immortal life. The truth, however, is that her one true wish was actually to be truly and honestly loved. Losing her true wish makes some of the important bonds and ties she's made with others, specifically Lelouch, mean significantly less to her than they're suppose to.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
History; C.C. started life as a slave girl, born and raised in the life of a slave. She ran away one day and stumbled into a church where a nun gave her the power of Geass. Her Geass ability was the power to make everyone around her fall in love with her. She was happy for a time because everyone loved her and she grew older. Yet she began to doubt when people truly loved her or when it was just her Geass making them. Eventually C.C.'s Geass reached full potential, becoming permanently activated in both her eyes. The nun, who was the only one C.C. ever trusted, revealed that she had been using C.C. all along as a means to end her immortal life at long last. So she transferred her immortality to C.C., allowing her to die while leaving C.C. in her place. She gave C.C. the sigil on her forehead and a similar scar under her left breast. Thus C.C. lost her original power and became immune to the effects of the Geass as part of the exchange.
C.C. was now given the task that the nun once had: making Geass contracts with others in hopes of granting her own true wish. Her life from then on became rather nightmarish. Images of repeated deaths are shown as what her past was like. We see C.C. attempting to escape a battle during World War I, only to be shot in the forehead. Further memories show her being persecuted as a witch and suffering various forms of torture and/or execution, including burning at the stake, guillotining and the iron maiden. She has mentioned such historical figures as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin as if she personally knew them as well. All of this suggests she has lived a lifespan of at least six centuries.
It is known her abilities caught the interest of Britannia and she was imprisoned as a part of Britannia’s experimentation in the past. The former Resistance group steals the capsule encasing her from the Britannia Army in Area 11 believing it to be poison gas. This leads to her encounter with Lelouch.
Lelouch accidentally releases her and she appears to him, bounded and weakened. She saves Lelouch from the Britannia soldiers by taking the shot intended for him. The bullet hits her in the center of the forehead and, to all appearance, she is killed. When Lelouch reaches out to her in horror, C.C. suddenly grabs his hand and transports him to a mysterious plane wherein she proposes to him the Geass contract. Lelouch accepts the contract and binds himself to it in order to obtain the power to control people's minds and make them obey any order he gives them.
C.C. reappears to Lelouch sometime later, appearing in his home folding origami with his sister Nunnally. She ends up staying with him much to Lelouch's chagrin. However she proves to be very helpful to him. When Lelouch dons the mask of Zero, she passively oversees his missions to ensure that he does not die, stepping in when his life is threatened and sometimes taking his place. She has saved Lelouch from the pinch of death on several occasions. She inadvertently gives Lelouch her real name as well, which appears to strengthen their bond. Likewise often Lelouch goes out of his way to ensure she remains by his side and is safe.
She becomes a member of The Order of the Black Knights, but her willful attitude and lack of an official posting annoys several veterans. When Lelouch heads to Kyushu to battle the Chinese-supported rebellion, C.C. copilots the Gawain Knightmare Frame with him, apparently handling the actual piloting while Lelouch operates the weapons. She is also later seen piloting a Knightmare Frame on her own.
When Nunnally is kidnapped by V.V. at the end of season one, they take the Gawain to Kaminejima in order to rescue her. A trap causes Lelouch to see parts of C.C.'s memories which she confirms by telling him she's a witch. Lelouch affirms to C.C. that they are still accomplices, something that seems to touch her. But they are immediately attacked by Jeremiah Gottwald who had followed them. C.C. tells Lelouch to look for Nunnally while she deals with Jeremiad with a weakened Gawain. She sends Lelouch off with a kiss and charges after the enemy. She successfully plunges them both into the sea, telling him he was “not the one she wanted to do a lover's suicide with”. She is killed by the water pressure.
A year later at the start of season two C.C. is in command of the Black Knights after Lelouch is captured and had his memories sealed away. She and the rest of the surviving rebellion members hatch a plan to unlock Zero's memory. Despite Britannia predicting that exact outcome, she successfully restores his memories and Lelouch takes command again. She takes up her old position of following him instead. Later it is revealed that C.C. use to led the Geass Directorate, a secret organization that studies and produces Geass users. When C.C. left, V.V. took over and relocated the headquarters. Upon Shirley’s death, Lelouch pinpoints the location and orders C.C. to lead the attack against it. She is recognized by some of the scientists there and they ask her to save them, but they’re killed before she can answer.
It is revealed that C.C. also gave Charles his Geass, which allows him to replace memories. Charles promises to grant C.C.'s wish of death by taking her immortality for himself. Lelouch interferes and stops this from happening, realizing her true wish is to be loved. However afterward C.C. loses her memories and reverts to her old slave girl persona. After Lelouch's identity is uncovered and he is forced to flee the Black Knights, C.C. is left behind. Lelouch's mother Marianne contacts her through Anya and it is revealed that C.C. as we know her is simply hiding inside her own mind. Marianne, whom C.C. also gave the Geass too, brings C.C. back to normal and takes her to meet with Charles at the Sword of Akasha. Her and Charles have their own wish to fulfill and they use C.C. to try and grant it. However Lelouch again intervenes and kills Charles and Marianne both. C.C. is spared because she had turned against them in the end.
When Lelouch becomes emperor, C.C. is already aware of his plan. She goes along with it regardless, watching silently from the shadows until called upon. At one point she asks him if he hates her for giving him the Geass. Lelouch replies that he does not and that he is thankful she allowed him to move forward. When Kallen attacks them, C.C. pilots the Lancelot and battles her so that Lelouch can escape. She is easily defeated and escapes but allows Lelouch the time to put his plan into action. During Lelouch's planned assassination, C.C. prays for him at a church and after his death she is seen moving on with her life. She smiles and states that she believed the Geass always brings loneliness but that Lelouch proved this belief to be untrue. She is sure that she can now happily go on with her life thanks to the memories Lelouch gave her.
Personality; C.C. is a very strange girl. She regards much of her surroundings with a passive nature. She is apathetic about everything ninety-nine percent of the time, always observing at a distance. One could just as easily call her lazy and that isn't far from the truth. Her idea of a good time is lounging around eating pizza and sleeping. C.C. can be blunt to the point of being cruel but she’s usually correct in her statements and observations. She can launch into philosophical conversations with ease, her words usually meaning something else entirely than what they sound like. However she protects Lelouch and shows him fierce loyalty because of their contract. In the past she has rarely shown anyone else that same closeness (with the slight exception of Marianne) so it's uncertain if she would show such faith in anyone else nowadays.
She has an attitude and won’t take much abuse from anyone. She stands up for herself and can often give someone a verbal lashing. Using wit and sarcasm, she can also occasionally get under someone's skin. (Sometimes on purpose.) She's very cynical, rather arrogant and pretty selfish most of the time as well. Additionally she is almost annoyingly carefree and doesn't seem to show much interest in anything. Yet she knows just when to charge in and fight the good fight. She is playful and enjoys teasing others, often exaggerating or telling lies to provoke amusing reactions. She tends to keep people at arm's length at all times. She’s afraid of getting really close to anyone, though Lelouch seems to be the exception. She does this because she does not have the luxury of friends. Being an immortal, C.C. doesn't find it worth much to have attachments to people. Likewise, because of her Geass that made people love her, she has trouble telling who actually cares about her.
For all her faults C.C. can he caring and has shown to have a slight motherly streak in her. (Shown in the case of Mao.) She is occasionally empathetic and although she is no hero she has been known to help those in need. C.C.'s wish is to be truly loved by someone. Though if you asked her she'd tell you her wish was to die. Although the former is closer to the truth, it would seem that to some extent she wants them both to come true. However thanks to Lelouch, she considers her wish to truly be loved granted and states that the memories he gave to her will last for the rest of her lifetime.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
Winter. The snow was drifting down listlessly from the sky, a mix of gray, blue and yellow. It had been a long time since C.C. had been able to look at the snow and see it as something beautiful. Not so long ago it was a cold and unpleasant white matter that, like her, had forgotten what it meant to have color, to be alive. Yet in this world reborn thanks to a single man--no, a single boy--C.C. could look at the snow as something completely different. It was not a colorless substance to be scorned but something that could be loved. Even if it was different from the life of the sun, it was beautiful in its own right.
I had resigned myself to being a lone witch all my life. And now I would never settle for it.
The green haired woman sat on a stone wall, the cold seeping into her from it. It didn't bother her as she was much too busy staring up at the sky. Her previously summery dress had been replaced with a thick set of pants and jacket. She was bundled up well. It was only natural since she had been traveling through this weather for quite sometime. She had no destination. She was simply... traveling. Absently she wondered how Kallen was and the other members of the Black Knights. And Nunnally.
Enjoying their new life that Lelouch gave them. Of course.
Abruptly C.C. hoped down from her perch. No carts would be coming to give her a ride. Not in this weather. She would have to continue by foot until she found shelter or even a horse to borrow. She picked up her bag and dusted the snow from her pant legs.
She would continue onward to an unknown future. Unknown, but ever bright.
FIRST-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
This is outright cruel. Don't drag him to this place if you're not going to bring him to. It's really important that I have him with me. Has anyone seen him? He's the most important thing to me...
...
Cheese-kun. Where did you go?
More importantly, is there pizza here? I don't care what magical powers are keeping me here, I'm definitely not staying if there isn't any pizza.
INTENT: C.C. is one of my oldest muses. I really love playing her because she's very good for tagging others. She forms CR surprisingly well and has a lot to offer in terms of plot and character interactions. She's a favorite and, well... I've always wanted to join Paradisa so I thought she'd be perfect for my first must here. :)
