LJ blocked in China ;p

Mar 08, 2007 11:36

My fabulous friend, Spot, helped me to create an RSS feed from my personal blog. Please add it here: heartbeijing. I really want to keep up the discussion and I love how LJ isn't flat like most blogging platforms...

Or you could just check my blog at http://www.iheartbeijing.com/blog/

lj, rss, blocked, china, iheartbeijing, beijing

i was wondering where you'd gone to. my friend katie taught in china last year. we spent chinese new year in a failed attempt to find fireworks, and ended up drinking green tea and listening to music till 4 in the morning.

hmm... if only I could *send* y'all some fireworks...

(sigh)

:)

but hey, green tea + music + friends sounds like a good enough chinese new year celebration to me :)

hehe, thanks :)

I will be able to read lj from work or via a proxy server, but updating just doesn't work from a proxy all the time and its easier to just post it from my personal blog anyways... hopefully I'll still be able to get email from comments that people make on the rss feed lj.

The CCP strikes again. Thank goodness for the multitude of blogging spots that exist around the internets. Was there any big reason why the Chinese blocked LJ? I know they did so to the BBC and Yahoo and a bunch of other news sites because they would report the bad stuff from China, but were there getting to be too many journals to look at?

I think that livejournal just gave people an opportunity for unfiltered discussion: yahoo and google both work with the Chinese govt to censor things (including the blogs on their servers) so I'm guessing thats it (since nobody has been able to find an exact post that would have done it, etc).
