Thoughts on E-fic anyone?

So, I left E-fic.

I didn't go out with a bang, nor a whisper. I simply told them that I wasn't going to argue or beg them to change things, deleted my stuff, and got the hell out of there. That was all.

Now, I can respect that I don't own the site, therefore I don't make the rules. However, that does not mean I have to agree with the rules that the administrators make. Therefore, if something upsets me and I want to leave, I have that very right, and I should be able to do it without getting accused of being whiny or stupid or a drama queen. After all, my departure and the last note I left was rather civil and certainly not insulting to anyone on the site. It was rather peaceful even.

But that's not my point. The point is, that after a while, things just become too much. There were other things that I hadn't agreed with going on, but as they didn't bother me wholly I sat back and let it slide.

Banning Anonymous reviews cut down on my reader response, but that was okay, because I write for myself as much as the readers. In fact, with that and the newer set of rules that came with it, I was barely even moved to protesting.

Then came the fact that story submissions were going to be reviewed before the site would post them. Okay, I can even deal with that. I don't think it's fair, and I have to admit I think the whole process will be a biased one, but I could've dealt and that would have been A-okay.

And lastly, they banned the use of "(your name)" and similar things employed in reader insert and choose your own adventure fanfiction...

That is something I will not stand for. Not because I can't write my fanfiction without it, I've proved twice I can, but because it's a ban on style of writing, writing devices, things that not even Fanfiction.net or Mediaminer. org put a ban on. It's one thing to rule out CYOAs and Reader Inserts completely, or a rating, but just a teensy thing like a writing device? It's like saying you can no longer use similes and metaphors. It's ridiculous.

And those are my thoughts. If they're childish, immature or over dramatic then so be it.

And this is what my friend Jen has to say on the matter *nod* And I'm quite incliced to agree with her.

Drama queen? Yes, I'm the drama queen, when if you were as mature as you say you are, even though most of the people leaving that I know are well your senior, have to resort to crude retorts, and say we have no argument. Yes, I find it fair that you, a child still in school, have the gall to call adults the immature ones, especially when you try and control the fanfiction coming into your site to your exacting standards. Please, review my submission, and then toss it in the trash because I express creativity, I beg of you. I shall conform to your standards because you are a friend of one of the top people on a website. Yes, I'm so scared. So feel free to do whatever you see fit, even though I've deleted all my stories, so you wouldn't have extra work to do, yes, bash me because I tell the truth to condenscending children, who have no clue how to run something.
