SHENANNIGANS IN THE DARK

Jul 07, 2009 15:02

So I caved, and watched the first installment of Torchwood: COE. Mostly because YOU GUYS, you guys, you wouldn't stop freaking talking about it, so of course, you know, I gave it another whirl. tbh, I kind of stopped caring about it halfway through Season 2, or something, but W/E TORCHWOOD IT IS NOW REDEEMED. Guys, that ep was really rather good ( Read more... )

XD Shenannigans in the dark indeed!

Don't think THAT THING is going to happen. I really don't. And yes, I've scoured for spoilers about said rumour and haven't found ANYTHING that's substantiated it.

Welcome to the dark side. XDDD

Is that how you spell it, even? IDK. Can I just spell it BUTTSEXWITHIANTO? yes pls.

OKAY GOOD I AM GLAD. That would be so sad, for srs. D: D: D: D: I mean, they don't have a good fucking track record with keeping people not dead, or anything, but tbh I don't know that much about the show, except that I used to like it AND NOW I LIKE IT AGAIN.

♥ OH TORCHWOOD.

IDK. But it's a fantastic word regardless. I'm still sniggering over Gwen saying her farewells because she was going into England.

YES, YES YOU CAN SPELL IT THAT WAY. *g* Because Shenannigans = subtext = buttsex. *nods sagely*

No, I don't think there's anything to it. No, they don't haev a good track record and frankly *I* don't have a good track record when it comes to liking characters and them staying alive. I DO THOUGH -- say it's not being written by Aaron Sorkin (of west wing fame). with him? man, one inkling characters could be in a relationship and they were killed off.

♥ You shall get sucked in. And then you will be sucked into Who. It's an inevitable stream of events that is impossible to steer away from. Believe me I know. I tried, man. I SO tried.

She is adorbs, man - even when I was less in love with the show, she remained pretty high up there. I think it's the accent and the gapteeth, idk. She's great. And what! BABIES.

OKAY I WILL BREATHE EASIER NOW.

See, Who was originally my problem, and then I was like, WHAT IS THIS THING, THIS TORCHWOOD THING, I SHALL WATCH IT. \:D/ I'm glad they're back.

Haha. We must have the same taste, then -- I could NOT get interested in it. But if you say it becomes verrah verrah worthwhile I'll give it another go!

Seriously, I was so excited for it post-Ten Who, w/e I'm a Tennant fan, GFU OKAY UNASHAMED. and I was like, idk, progressively disappointed in it. It may be the thrill of seeing some of the things I liked about it originally back in the main shot (so to speak) of the show - like, oh, whatever, IANTO, I GUESS. But I genuinely think this "season" is off to a great start, and whatever general failings the show has/had as a whole are overshadowed by some supreme buddy-copping.

I WILL CONTINUE TO LET YOU KNOW. SKEPTIC FACE!

PLEASE DO!

My biggest issue was that right from the beginning characters were doing dramatic and emotionally conflicting things without any clear justification for their actions -- and that kind of erratic, "why-should-I-care-about-their-moral-dilemma" character building has ALWAYS been a turn-off for me. The best Dr. Who always managed to give motivation with VERY LITTLE in the way of character development -- proving, in the process, to be exceptionally strong writing despite its fancifulness! But Torchwood's writers didn't quite seem to grasp this requisite quality -- at least at the outset!

In any case, will brave those waters once more! Anticipating your final verdict with GREAT INTEREST. And subsequent remorse for time waste etc will be on YOUR head!!!

( :) Nah, I'll just do my editing with it in the background -- no loss!)

♥ ♥ ♥!
