Jurassic World Dominion + TV Catch Up
It's been a while since I was excited for a film, but I'm excited for this one!!!
Alan, Ellie, AND Ian are back?! They're finally showing feathered dinosaurs?! The concept is so great, because I've definitely imagined what it would be like with Dinosaurs and humans living at the same time. I just really hope the dinos themselves look good. Jurassic World was hit or miss.
We finished Hacks season 1 on HBO Max. This show takes the trope of shitty female leads and gives them room to grow and care about each other. It's also very funny. The most interesting part for me is how Deborah chooses to use her money. I think this show is a little more nuanced and/or realistic look at new wealth. I really liked Deborah by the end. I'm excited there will be a season 2!
I've been watching season 1 of The Great. I love the whole attitude and aesthetic/costumes!! Plus, so many f/f ship possibilities. There are definitely some content warnings, like bad dubcon sex - but the show manages to be fun and hopeful too, instead of dark and gloomy. I think I have enough dark/gloomy shows :P Catherine definitely gets to hold her own, and I'm excited for her new coalition.
Finished s4 of Cobra Kai. They really went BIG with the All Valley tournament!! I appreciated how over the top it was, because it made the old karate dads look even more ridiculous. Plus, I think they had to really look at themselves and the intense situations they were putting the kids through. Tory seems to be softening a bit, which I don't quite understand? I guess they alluded to the fact that she is getting therapy (great) but then Amanda had to go and make it really weird? Maybe she should be talking to her own daughter about how her heart is hardening. Sam 'choosing her own path' and getting acceptance from her Dad was great. I'm just not sure she's okay with herself.
Johnny and Daniel finally talked!!!!! And they were honest!!!!! I guess they just needed the All Valley karate mat to get real with each other. That was my favorite part :D
I have no idea where they are going with the Robby and Miguel thing, but I want Johnny and Robby to go on a pilgrimage to Mexico together to find Miguel. What a bonding trip that would be. Of course my shipper heart wants Daniel to go, too. UH OH I smell a WIP idea.
I liked the Robby and Johnny scene. Robby finally got in over his head, and felt out of control, and Kreese and Silver sure weren't going to be helpful. So I thought it worked.
And I'm glad to see that Silver had a (totally unhinged) plan all along. Because that didn't make any sense when he originally beat up stingray. Glad Stingray is back though! Maybe now they can give all the Vietnam flashbacks a rest.
