I've been mentally angsting about this for a while, so I might as well make a post about it and get on with my life.

How has my characterization of Sasuke been?  Constructive criticism, tips, ideas plz--just, this is my first RP, and if there's anything I can be doing better, I want to know about it.

You write a wonderful Sasuke. Let me just get that out right away. I am not a fan of Sasuke, but the manner in which you've developed his character has made him likable and you made him fit in the RP.

If you don't mind me asking about process, one thing that I sometimes wonder about is how you went about getting canonSasuke and making him SquarewartsSasuke. Making sure they're different (because you can't have canon Sasuke here, dear lord) but also matching up certain parts of their personality is pretty tough. Its really hard trying to take canon anyone and make them AU and fit in that AU while preserving their character. I think you have done a great job with him, although I think it might have been interesting to show a gradual development from more canonjerk Sasuke to Squarewartsdork Sasuke. (However with time passage here I can see how that would be difficult so I don't know

In response to the question: really, I don't know. Again, this is my first RP, and everything I'm doing is totally off-the-cuff. I started the RP with a very canon Sasuke: he was surly, uncommunicative, snarky, and liable to break hearts.

And then, I don't even know what happened. I didn't consciously plan (at first) his character development, I just basically method-acted as best I could and let my muse tell me what to do. And he just started to develop, completely independent of my conscious control.

I'm sorry; I wish I were some sort of genius RPer with a secret technique for AUing a character and making him canon-compatible at the same time and then allowing his character to develop parallel to canon and yet completely separately until they're different because what they're going through is different--I wish I had a recipe for it, but I don't. I'm just the instrument, here.

Time passage was a bit of a factor. Sasuke's development was a lot more gradual in my head--a lot more gradual--but the way that

You seem like a cool person, from the limited OOC interaction that I've seen on the comm. That said, there are a couple of things that need to be said.

As a player, you only seem interested in interacting with a limited group of people. The limit wavers between a specific group of players (Sakura and Godot-muns especially) and specific fandoms.
On top of that, when you come into chat very rarely, and the one of the few occasions you do come in is specifically to squee over the fact that we have a Kakashi (and thus a canonmate for Sasuke) it is really noticeable. It comes across as pretty rude, especially considering that we have had a few new players/characters lately and none of them got a special greeting like that.

Sasuke is an anti-social character. Sometimes you need to make an effort to figure out stuff to build a greater web of CR or just mix it up a bit. Comment on more journals or try starting logs that aren't closed and aren't with the same two or three people that you always log with.
