Thank you for this post. This is a sentiment that I have often tried to express, but have always failed to convey without a lot of spluttering.
Other rant topics of mine: *Hipsters from C-U who bash the area (in order to be hip) *East Coast people who think small midwestern college towns are full of "hicks" *Chicago area-ers who complain about the traffic in C-U being too slow (even (*gasp*) going the speed limit, you'll get the same distance about eight times faster than in Chicago!) *The relocation of the south farms
Chicago is awesome, but it does not have a monopoly on awesomeness! There are many different kinds of awesomeness, methinks.
Well, hurm. I am not loving it much right now. We are, with two other people, trying to find a rental home to live in and, since I am jobless, I am the one dealing with the realtors. And they are being jerks. Also, one of the other people is about to have his lease run out and we've offered to let him stay here rent-free. Before he sees the place, however, it has to be cleaned and fixed up quite a lot. I don't really know what to do with most of the stuff in the house but, because I do not have a job, I am basically going to be cleaning it by myself. The weather just cooled down a bit and there's a really pretty blue sky, but I am inside dealing with realtors and a messy house and I'm kind of bummed out

However, it is also true that Champaign-Urbana's own Blind Pig Co. was voted the 28th best place in the nation to have a beer. Eat it Chicago.
