Writing this now before my stamina goes out the window for once!
*Met Mr. Icelandic today and he's super nice and will gladly translate what I need translating. He mentioned his Icelandic is a little rusty, but his English is good, and his parents are fluent speakers with bad English, so between them they should be able to figure stuff out.
*I'm trying to learn a little bit of Icelandic to make the transition to Old Norse easier, or so I've read. I have an awesome book on Old Norse, but it's more "about" than it is "how to". Not much of this will be going into Asgard, as the subject I'm working with is already crazy complicated. It's more for projects such as Hrefna's necklace and such that I want to write out the correct words in runes. Plus knowing a little of the language brings about better understanding of the poetry.
Also! I offered to tutor a friend's sister in art stuff. She's going for a blanket degree at a local community college, then is going to go for a tattoo apprenticeship. Since she's not going to get to the art classes until later, I told her I'd work with her for now and get her in shape for them. I offered this for free since it doesn't really cost me anything to sit down and teach, but her mom is shoving money under my nose anyway. I appreciate it, and after this first session, this kid'll be awesome to work with. I was seriously impressed.
On top of this I'm editing for another friend's magazine and rewriting my resume to send in to a temp agency.
Also also, I need to get my shit together and make sure my masquerade mask is ready for the 13th. Shit on a stick, I should've started earlier.
For all the D&D players on my Flist, ENJOY. This has a story.
Sister and I were up in NH for the weekend and went to a nearby zoo/farm thing. And we came across the raptor cages with this ten-year-old kid making noises at a very grumpy looking owl. After a few minutes of taking this kid's abuse, the owl swivels its head around makes the most god-awful MEH! noise. It has stuck with me since.
