Chapter VIII part a
There was a consistent beeping of sounds when Hyukjae regained consciousness. He opened his eyes slowly, taking a glimpse of everything around him. The walls were painted dainty white, while the tiled floor was plain gray. There was a big window at his left showing the bright blue sky, and some overgrown trees. The sun was shining brightly, it's rays spreading all throughout the lad's bed, and Hyukjae couldn't stop himself from grinning due to its magnificence.
A faint smell of daisies spread around the medium-sized room, and Hyukjae's smile grew wider; he always loved the morning smell of the nature. He looked at the small table beside his bed and beamed, it seems that someone visited him.
But why was he here in the first place?
Curiousity filled his mind as he looked at the right side of his bed. A boy, which was the same as his age, was peacefully sleeping, his mouth slightly agape and his breathing creating soothing sounds. The lad was using his arms as his pillow, and Hyukjae couldn't help but wonder if the strange man doesn't feel numb.
Brown, slightly-curled hair, and fair skin, was what Hyukjae could make out from the stranger's appearance. He looked like an angel, in his opinion. But who was he in the first place? Hyukjae wasn't sure. All he knew was that the stranger looked familiar, slightly familiar, but isn't someone special. Hyukjae has met a lot of people just by passing by the streets in front of his house, maybe this lad is one of them.
But why is the stranger here, sleeping peacefully on his hospital bed? And why was Hyukjae in the hospital, really?
Those questions swam circles in Hyukjae's ocean of thoughts for a few minutes, but stopped when shuffling sounds were heard from beside him. Hyukjae frowned, why did the guy wake up? He looked so peaceful awhile ago, but now he looks so empty.
“H-hyuk … ?” the stranger breathed as he rubbed his sleepy eyes and yawned. Hyukjae tilted his head, and stopped breathing for a second.
“Who are you?” he asked, no malice in his tone.
Donghae, hearing his beloved's voice, immediately straightened up. He thought he was still dreaming when he saw Hyukjae already awake, but when he heard his lover's melodious voice, his hopes increased.
“Hyukjae! You're awake!” He beamed before standing up to embrace his lover tight in his arms. He sighed in relief. Hyukjae was awake now, all he had to do was to ask for forgiveness.
Everything would be fine, right?
“Uhm … excuse me, sir. But who are you?”
Donghae blinked. His mind and heart froze all of a sudden. Did he heard right? Hyukjae was asking who he was? He must be joking, right?
Donghae gulped as he felt a huge lump on his throat. Tears were beginning to form in his eyes. He peeled himself of off Hyukjae and closed his eyes, not wanting to break down in front of his one and only love.
It seems that Hyukjae hasn't forgiven him yet. Well, it is his fault anyway - everything was his fault.
Donghae opened his eyes and smiled bitterly. “I-I'm Lee … Donghae,” he stammered a bit, “I'm your best friend's acquiantance. You know, Sungmin hyung?” He tried hard not to let his tears fall from his eyes, but his heart couldn't take the pain any longer. Slowly, his tears fell as he gripped his hands tight.
“A-are you okay, Donghae-ssi?” Hyukjae asked, kind of worried. Why was this stranger crying in front of him? Have he said something wrong?
'Donghae-ssi?' Hyukjae never called him that. Never. Donghae sighed for the nth time that day; Hyukjae hasn't really forgiven him.
“I-I should call Sungmin hyung, right? He must be worried.” Donghae stood up to leave but Hyukjae stopped him. He gulped again, maybe his lover was only teasing him. If he did, Hyukjae must be awarded - all these seemed so real.
“Did Sungmin hyung send you here? Is he busy?” Hyukjae asked all too sudden, and Donghae's hoped completely shattered.
He closed his eyes and immediately left the place, not forgetting to tell Hyukjae, “Yes, he is. That's why he sent me here, a stranger, to aid you. Maybe he chose the wrong choice, huh?”

Sungmin kept on calling Donghae through his mobile but received no response. He was so agitated at what happened to Hyukjae since he has no idea at all. (Hell, he just came from the infirmary!) The nurse kept on talking (she was a witness) about the accident that happened in front of their school, not knowing that Sungmin is one of the closest friends the victim has, that's why he knew.
He kept on stomping his feet while dialing Donghae's number till he bumped into a guy and stumbled on the floor, his cellphone smashing hard on the ground in the process.
“What the? My phone!” Sungmin screamed a tone higher than his normal voice as he half-crawled to his broken cellphone. He faced and glared at the monster who destroyed his most beloved gadget, only to notice that the person who bumped him was the rude man who brought him to the infirmary awhile ago. His eyes immediately widened. “Oh … it's you again,” he mumbled as he calmed his beating heart down.
Kyuhyun scoffed. “And I thought we would never meet each other again. But, hey, it's you!” he sarcastically remarked. He was in such a bad mood because of his brother awhile ago and now he meets this slow person he dislikes the most.
“Yah!” Sungmin stood up and stomped near the rude person. Kyuhyun snickered at the childish act.
“Stop being so rude, jerk!”
“Do I know you?” the younger smirked.
“You just met me awhile ago, idiot!”
Kyuhyun frowned and glared at Sungmin for a second then walked away, using his left shoulder to push Sungmin's frail side.
“Shit,” Sungmin cursed as he rubbed the part that arrogant lad had injured.
