i've started making remarks to mum and dad that i might be gay, in the hopes that i'll desensitise them in the event that i DO decide i'm bi. i think it's working.

I agree with every word you've said, I have to show you that article in Vanity Fair about queer shows one day. (I have to admit that cought that issue because of the beautiful people on it.)
And I know what groups you're talking about, what's worse about them, since I've read that same article. Trust me though, they're not as bad as the people from God Hates Fags, even though everyone who's out of that "religion" thinks that they are a joke. (I certainly get a good laugh from them, after cringing like hell)

As for your mum... it's hard to change a person's mind, so "just keep doin' what you doin'" and deal with it as it comes. Or maybe take it as a sign to start being "friendly" with boys :p
