New roleplaying game?

Nov 07, 2010 02:23

Today I had to declare my baby, the Gundam 00 roleplaying game Descent dead. After a year and a half, that was really painful, but not unexpected. The Gundam 00 fandom seems to have had a brief flare of activity only to then peter out so here I sit in another Gundam fandom that is all but dead. There are more GW roleplayers out there still than G00 ( Read more... )

Stop tempting me with your RPG wiles!

Which of them do you find the more tempting? ;)

The Kushiel one.

PLFT.

But I've basically given up on group RPGs. I have no patience for the inevitable drama.

(Still so tempting, though.)

This G00 game I ran for a year and a half actually had no offgame drama during that entire time, it died down because too many players dropped out, but none of it came from any bad blood. Still, I'll give you that it is a bit of a rarity, more often than not it does turn into offgame drama at some point. But at least my games tend to last for a good while before that happens.

D:
I really need to learn to read the Offgame section sooner.

You know my opinion on this one. I'm SO all over a Freeport game. Though we should probably contact Maldoror and ask if that's OK, if that's the way we go.

And could do Kushiel, though I'd have to either convert an older character (who I don't actually think you've met) or.. brew something up new. Balm or Valerian, I think. *nodnod*

Were you still looking for a co-GM?

I was hoping you would say that. :) I can't promise you the absence of flaky roleplayers who don't keep what they promised, because most online roleplayers come and go. But I can tell you that none of my games have ever failed due to lack of activity or effort on my behalf. I always fight until the bitter end to keep them running.

The plan for the Kushiel game was to pick one house of the night court and make all the main characters adepts of that house, with the option for any regular player as well as guest players to play patrons. Depending on what house we pick, Narcisse may not function as an adept there. But he could always visit as a patron. If a game like this is to work, it needs a core group of characters that are tightly knit together, yet with openings for new characters to come along as old players drop out and new ones are recruited. Would you be willing to create a new character to play as well as Narcisse? Pretty please? :)

With my time constraints and the way RL is for me with cons and cosplay, I think one on ones are what I am going to stick to for the time being. But with whatever you choose, I wish you good luck!

Thank you! Perhaps some time in the future, you'll have more time to spare and be able to play in a multi-player game again.

First option sounds good. Goes more with my action orientation. I may have to read the fic first. If a review of GW is needed, I'll do it (I was never really in the fandom. I just familiarized myself with GW (watched the whole series and Endless Waltz) when, in a multi-fandom RP, Trowa started running after Malik Ishtar of YGO. It seems Trowa has an eye for blond Middle Eastern dolls. The doll he chased in the RP, however, was a bitch).

It's a really long fic, but well worth the read in any case. At the moment, it looks like more people are intereted in the Kushiel concept, but we shall see, I thought I'd go through my little black roleplaying book and harass every roleplayer I know. =)
