Cleaning up on the f-list

I'm a fan of joining communities and then just not "watching" them. I make a bookmark in my browser and promptly forget all about it. >.>

*s* I did that to the 3x4 comm, though that turned out to be an unnecessary precaution, as rarely as people post there. Most of the time, I join a comm with the intention of bveing an active participant. And then I may or may not discover that it really is something that keeps me interested past the initial new-ness of it.

i have to do that every year in my personal journal :P if someone doesn't acknowledge me in a year, then...man, that sounds catty. it's not though ::works on new PR strategy::

Heh, it does, a bit. I have frequently had the problem with communities spamming my f-list with all sorts of stuff because I joined them not realizing how active the comm was, or that I was only moderately interested in what was going on there. And then just the other week, it occurred to me that I had several people on my f-list who post pretty frequently, but whose posts I never respond to, and who never respond to mine. Reading someone's blog regarding what they did today is only interesting if one already knows the person. And I'm not much of a blogger/blog-reader anyway. This journal is mainly about fandom, to me.

i like to separate things, so i have a journal for personal stuff, one for poetry, one for fandom (this one), etc. and most of the people on my personal i know and see regularly, with the exception of a few interesting ones. but i do it all separate because i would clog up people's f-list with all my different activities. it just didn't seem too cool. :P

You have a separate one for blogging, then? That's ambitious. I post so infrequently that I don't have to worry about spamming people's f-lists even if I post stuff for three different fandoms and personal rants, here. I'm more or a private messenger kind of person. People who want to know what my day was like can ask me on icq/msn/yim.
