So I had this idea

To try and recreate the journey that Phileas Fogg and Passepartout take in Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. And by recreate I mean RECREATE. As in as accurately as possible, with no planes, no cars, the same route if it's possible and even, conceivably if I can find one, carrying everything in a carpet bag. And of course ( Read more... )

I thought so! I know they did something like it for BBC tv a couple years ago, but I think people would like reading about someone undertaking the adventure on their own!

Hahah...I'm trying to figure out if that was meant to be a funny or not since I mentioned it my post. If it is then success, you made me laugh. If not, then I'm rather flattered you think it could be a hit...assuming it ever happens.

I think it is a brilliant idea, however the only way to recrreate the exact journey would be to be a millionaire... But I am definitely up for it! I hope you know how to drive a balloon! ;)

Not necessarily a millionaire. And they never actually travel by balloon in the book. They discuss it but decide it's too risky and impossible. The balloon was added in the 1956 movie version and has been considered a part of the story ever since.

I'm probably super late but me! I can totally pack a small suite case and live out of it for six weeks and do laundry in a sink (because I've legit done this).

Granted we need to start saving now cause after I pay to have my car fixed after last night's little accident involving a dog/coyote/thing and a sign (yes I'm fine but my car is not...*wibbles*) I'm going to be much more broke than I currently am.

But yes! Come! Have adventures with me! *I highly recommend the book if you haven't read it. Fan-TAS-tic read!*

Oh wow. Yeah I almost hit a deer once. It FUCKING STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. And I had to slam on my breaks to was inches from it. I need to work on paying off loans too.

I live in the mountain so when I can't sleep I drive up to the ski basin and I drove up one night and there was this deer by the side of the road...THAT TOTALLY DID NOT MOVE WHEN I STOPPED TO STARE AT IT!!!!

Loans are EVIL. EVIL!!!! *though at least my interest rate on my auto loan isn't too high thanks to my parents excellent credit*
