Last night I saw Murder by Death at Maxwell's. There were two openers as well, Langhorne Slim, who was great, and Aberdeen City, who were... not so great. They had some interesting sonic textures but there were too many songs with a disco beat and not enough lyrics. Apparently an MTV camera crew was there to film Aberdeen City -- I have no idea why

Maxwells always suffers from the "wandered in from the restaurant/bar" element. I remember seeing Antibalas there once and some drunken yuppie was yelling at people "DANCE! DANCE!" while teetering around with his drink in hand.

I was wishing for my stab-o-matic at that point.
