I think I've mentioned it before but never actually shown pictures.............or maybe I have and forgotten. In the park just down the road is a tree where the monarch butterflies live. Mum and I went down yesterday so I could take her some photos. It's winter here but they seem to have lived there all year round. Later on in the afternoon ( Read more... )

Those are lovely photos, Poog! We have a place here in the States -- Pacific Grove, CA -- that is famous for the fact that the Monarchs spend time there before flying down to Mexico where they overwinter.

I had heard there was somewhere they overwinter but had thought ours went north too. Since it's winter and they are still here now I'm consfused.

Beautiful......the population of buterflies here in Holland is rapidly decreasing, we all get excited when we see on....and they are small ones
