It amuses me that Buy Nothing Day is the day after the biggest shopping day of the year. I don't plan on buying much of anything this weekend, but it seems kind of funny. I know it's picked on purpose, but it just makes me laugh that it is the day AFTER. Like they say, well, we know people will shop on Friday, no matter what, we can't help that, so let's pick the day after. People will be shopped out and the sales won't be quite as big, so we might be able to make more of a difference then than on the 24th.

It's still a good idea though... Before I moved to NYC I shopped at Wal-Mart often because I couldn't afford NOT to --- but I felt guilty and awful every single time I did, because it doesn't get much worse than Wal-mart.

yeah you're right. We should stay fat content and apathetic as we follow global capitalism straight into the next draft... I've always wanted to get shot in a foreign country!

Who said anything about fatness, contendedness, apathy, or drafts? I just want to take advantage of a chunk of people not clogging up the stores that way I don't have to press through a giant throbbing orgy of CIA (Capitalism in Action) just to get my brother a damn soccer ball, like last year. And content and apathetic sounds pretty happenin to me.

P.S. When are you coming back to the county honkie?

'shop till you drop' has a lot to do with keeping the masses from giving a shit about anything.. aka stop the revolting from revolting against a revolting situation by keeping them docile via revolting behavior... even the slaves got christmas off.
the county... maybe this summer. i have to get some scrizzle so i can bum around europe with my new girlfriend. maybe i can do that in VA.

I'm a bit of a materialist when it comes to books, cds and dvds. I'm working on building up quite a library, but here's the catch - I haven't payed for any of it since I've been working for a certain large corporation that has "Low Prices, Always." But I have to admit I like to have things. I like to have a collection of music, literature and film... But sometimes I see that stuff as being outside the realm of materialism because art is a reflection of our world and society... because I don't care about getting new rims on my truck, the newest style of clothes, jewelry, toys, tvs, or whatever else might constitute being a consumer whore ( ... )

well props to you my boy, i would encourage anyone to steal from those evil fucks. im glad to hear that they dont bother pressing charges if its less than 25... gives me a few ideas. they also have this 'soft cash' policy where you can get a refund for any product less than $20 with a receipt no questions asked. this is often scammed by collecting receipts outside then ripping off the items in exchange for 20 bucks. beautiful.

i am fortunate enough to live in a place where we actively produce culture
the walls are covered with our artwork, the stereo blares our music
keep up the good fight; i love you like a straight man
